Only your first set of kit is REALLY expensive, as long as you are sticking to one group. Say German or American. After that your second impression becomes cheaper, and third even cheaper. I started with a 44 American Airborne. It was expensive, but when I decided to do a 45 Airborne it only needed a new set of BDUs. Then when I decided to do a Ranger kit I already had half the stuff. Then I wanted a Marine kit, at this point again all I needed was a set of Marine HBTs. But dear god did I spend a lot on my first kit.
