I've never had issues with my Eagle or Phantom pouches...and the flap has not been a practical issue (but I don't find I need to speed reload like Stallone from the Expendables).

I'm going to try a Taco next (inbound this weekend). Supposed to have good retention w/ smooth draw.

A flap for positive retention is comforting though...I can't help but feel that I'd loose a pistol/rifle mag with an open top.
* I've seen Milan's RC stuff...and the pistol mag holders hold A LOT of the mag...none of the "dainti-ness" amount like some other open top holders. I'd buy the RC pistol mag holders. Milan could confirm...but I think the double one takes up a lot of realestate side to side 'cause of the way it's moulded*

I would not go with many of the kydex M mags on the belt...a lot of them seem to hold the mag up really high. I'd probably bust a rib (probably be great for range use though). Don't know about using them on belt and then running a rig as well.
