If you are underage and want in to my house I could give a rats ass how much fun you want to have.
You need to illustrate a commitment to the activity going in. Taking the time to research and purchase appropriate equipment goes a long way to that end with respect to first impressions.
Show up in PB gear... and that speaks volumes.
