Eye/Face/Teeth Protection
So this airsoft thing sounds cool up to the point where I found out i can chip teeth on a .20bb.
So I have a paintball mask already. But I really hate it. To me 50% of airsoft is "playing dressup". I was thinking of airsoft goggles with a lower neoprene facemask to cover ears, nose and mouth. The other thing is that my fingers are pretty valuable to me. I am sure to most people also... What do you recommend for hand protection? |

I personally use Mechanix gloves but there are also tactical gloves out there which are great to.

you can also take an exacto knife to your paintball mask and trim away any excess plastic that you don't think is necessary, some masks even have the option to remove the goggle part as well.

Revision glasses are nice, but I still prefer my Wileys for the full seal.

You can also get a baclava to protect your face and teeth.

when i play indoor i use a full mask as it's closer engagements, outdoor a goggle alone is fine for me, I smoke so I need the accessibility :D

Consult your dentist about a low profile mouth guard. For the most part they are fairly inexpensive and do offer a decent amount of protection. Unfortunetly it may take a while getting used to being able to talk properly with one. Other options are shemagh, neoprene face protector and full paintball mask. I suppose you could always look into getting a sykes face mask or some form of scary looking Army of two style mask.

Funny story actually, I probably would have had one of my teeth chipped if it had not been for my sykes mask. I'm not sure the distance but I had a .28 hit me just below the nose and it actually chipped the mask (it appears there was an air bubble there and the force of the BB impact just made it chip) they're surprisingly solid. No pics though cause I don't have it with me. There's also the shemagh, but you don't like that option either do you? You could always do the hipster thing and use it as a scarf and when on the field just wear it on your head as a head wrap. A mouth guard like T7 said is an option too. EDIT: Oh yeah ears... There was a "brotherhood of bleeders" somewhere was there not? Lets just say make sure that your ears are covered by the strap on your ballistics/PB mask. |
I use these gloves (Oakley Pilots). they are great and are about the best you can get. carbon fiber knuckle plating and air vents along the fingers etc etc. and they are on sale atm:

So I went with a pair of aftermath cannibal goggles and a neoprene face mask.

I saw them up close an personal. Solid, stylish and reasonably priced, but they werent made for brown guys with pointy heads... :( |
