DPMS A-17 RIS $ Colt MKIV Airsoft
 

Good Day,

I was wondering if anybody has had any info/problems with the DPMS A-17 RIS & Colt MK IV Airsoft Combo Kit? I purchased this kit at Wal-Mart in the North end of Brampton before the holidays. Any info would be greatly be appreciated.

Save your money, verify your age then get a real airsoft gun.

I purchased one of those kits for my nephew a few months ago. Both still work although you get what you pay for. The side arm is cracked and accuracy with it is pointless. The M4 seems to have feeding problems with the 300rnd mag it comes with (it is the AEG not springer version). It miss-fires more often than not. My opinion on the Walmart clearsoft is that it's fine to play around with to see if you want to invest in a real airsoft weapon, but you can't expect much quality/durablility from a 100$ kit. But I'm not one to bash them either because my nephew is only 15 right now but he and his friends have fun playing in the woods with the clearsoft and that's what matters.

We don't encourage buying airsoft, no matter how shitty it is for minors and we also don't condone them playing "in the woods" with said airsoft either.

You can always return it to Walmart, if your not satisfied with their product. (90 days)

For one I never said it's a good idea to run out and buy one, but not everyone can afford 400$+ for their first weapon. Basically my point was based on someone I know buying 1200$ worth of kit because he thought he'd be great at playing (hard core fps gamer) but found out after only one day that he didn't like it at all and sold his gear for peanuts. Just good to try things out before going all in. And as far as "playing in the woods" goes, I feel better knowing they are doing that...btw they do have some parents watching...rather than off being sht disturbers.

Just because there is a parent or parents there watching over them doesn't make an illegal activity okay.

Sorry, but that just makes that person an idiot. He expected airsoft to be like playing an FPS, and found out it actually takes skill and energy. Happens often.

Playing with clearsoft guns on private property is not illegal in any way. As a matter of fact, playing with real airsoft on private property is not illegal either, or else we'd be breaking the law every time we played. However, if they're playing on public land, then that's a different story. And if it's within city limits, most urban centres have by-laws prohibiting the discharge of guns - even air guns (airsoft included) outdoors within city limits.

well just to be precise, he never said they were on private property, he just said they were "in the woods" with "some parents watching" mind you he is the uncle of the kid, and the one that bought the gun and yet he didn't claim to be supervising the kid with the gun...now just supposin' here

if the parents don't know that eye protection is necessary, then little jimmy loses an eye because his cool uncle thought it would be appropriate to buy his 15yro nephew a shitty walmart clearsoft to fuck around with in the woods with his other pals

Look, I'm not into flaming or cursing on forums that kids can read. I have three kids of my own, my nephew is in cadets, very responsible for his age. Can't say that for all kids his age. If you can't learn to be more respectful to people you know nothing about you should just say nothing. I'm not here to bash or discourage anyone, I have a lot of respect for what all the seasoned airsofter's do to keep things going and for all the great advice they give, but sometimes the advice is more hurtful than helpful and in the end make future players less likely to play. Instead of blasting someone for buying crap without knowing better just tell them from your expirence what they could do instead.

FYI- where they play is in an old sand dune with some little bunkers(tires and such) it is private property with concent from the owner, and a few of the parents spoke with the local police to make sure of the laws AND they are not dumb enough not to wear eye-protection. There is no little Jimmy to worry about
