I was wondering what is too much wind to play ?
just looking for opinions !

general advice is that you should bring with you a bottle of 0.25g BBs if wind is relatively mild. On the other hand, either stay home or bring with you a bottle of 0.30g BBs in case it is extremely windy out there.

Don't shoot long range when wind becomes a concern. Keep in mind: as long as your target is close enough, you stand a higher chance of hitting it. Based on our experience, any distance over 20M is too much for stock guns under heavy wind given the fact that stock guns are not powerful enough to push heavier BBs. On the other hand, if you all are using upgraded guns with FPS closer to the 400 level and airsoft 0.25/0.30g BBs, accuracy within 30-35M can still be achievable. -- Airsoft Tactics Manual, p. 48

It depends on what you're comfortable with. If its windy, use heavier BBs. You just gotta compensate for the wind. If you still can't aim consistantly and you're not having fun then call it quits.

I don't think theres a set number for when not to play.

I've used 0.43g BBs in my G19 at the Rawdon games, and have gotten easy hits using it out to 140ft...............

Best upgrade for any gun, including a stock gun, is to run 0.25g and up when outdoors, 0.28g is very good. Just don't expect 200ft kills with any gun (even up to 400fps or for that matter, a 500fps rifle shooting 0.36g BBs) in stronger wind conditions, is a total crapshoot. Waste of ammo in my opinion, due to LOTS of experience, primarily with sniper rifles.

I use .28s in my AEGs outdoors. I've only played in strong wind once, and I didn't find it all that bad, but the other guys playing with .2s couldn't hit shit at 20m with their BBs, despite some having guns shooting just over 400 fps. Wind did affect my trajectory, but I found that in a steady breeze, all I had to do was compensate my aim a bit, and it was fine.

depends on your field layout, wood cover, buildings, and size all play a factor. Ive played in games where its mostly all woods, and wind is nil in the woods, and when you leave the wind is intense.

i remember when there was a game at a new feild here, it was in the middle of a farmers field, but the wind was southernly, so with the field long running north to south, it wasnt too bad even though the wind was strong. not much for sniping that day though.

I'd say you would be able to compensate for wind if it's steady. If it's gusting/squalling however you're going to get weird ass trajectories so that's probably "too windy" to play.
