slip on's

Hey guys,I had all my unit slip on 4 in all.2 had been stolen along with
my regimental glass mug, this is where I kept 2 of them, but that was
awhile ago,now recently,I lost a third some how.Now I am left with
one.Short of going back to the armory and asking if I can buy new
ones,is there a place that you guys might know of that can make me
new ones?.Here is a picture of the last one I have, the material is
similar to the three seasons jacket, but I am not certain of the sewn
on unit material.

Double Tapper November 23rd, 2008 13:37

The ones from cpgear look like different material, and they are rank one
I'm not looking for.Would the regiment sell these, even to past members
that have been out for 12 years?.I would sure feel out of place, but
it would be nice visit.

Kind of hard to tell the colour ... are those the old OD slipons? The kit shop wouldn't have those anymore, not since we dropped the '82 Pattern uniforms. Your best bet would be a surplus store. Army cadets still use those, as well, if you know any. For out of date slipons you'd need to hit a surplus store, I'd think, for the blank slipon; and probably have the Regimental tab done up by one of the embroidery shops that does mil stuff.

Double Tapper November 23rd, 2008 13:57

That is what I was thinking in the back of my mind that they are
turned over to surplus,it looks like I should buy some old slip ons
as you say make my own.Would a embroidery shop say they do
MILSPEC sewing in their advertisement?.

Masterless November 23rd, 2008 14:06

Yeah, they will. If you're near a base there will be places; just look in the phone book (if such a think still exists); or go to a good online place like: http://www.omlpatches.com/

Good luck, bro.

Double Tapper November 23rd, 2008 14:09

I not sure of the bases around me other than base Borden near
Barrie. Thanks for the link and the help.

The Airforce still wears od slip-ons if I remember correctly, You might be able to find something.

Double Tapper November 23rd, 2008 21:18

I'll give Jeroom a shout soon and ask if he has any.The store in the
link is 1 hour from me and I'll be able to show them in person what
I want.

Kilo Charlie November 23rd, 2008 21:34

Yes, you can order them off CP Gear
http://www.cpgear.com/default.asp?mn...6&f=pd&pid=575

You can order in OD, click on "unit flash" after you have picked your rank then ask for "HF of C" to be embroided. The current CF official abbreviation for the "HF of C" is the "RHF of C", so you will have to be clear that you only want "HF of C"

I have ordered many pieces of kit form CP gear and they are very easy to deal with and have very quick shipping.

Good Luck

Double Tapper November 23rd, 2008 22:36

The picture up top is my official issue slip on from the unit.
And my gold pins for my dress uniform epaulets were HF of C.
The RHF of C must be the new issue. The colour of the cpgear
is a different green,it would like wearing my garrison slip ons
with my combats. And if I'm correct,I did not see anyone
except officers wear rank on their slip ons in my regiment. :D

Kilo Charlie November 23rd, 2008 23:41

No, no dont get me wrong, The HF of C, became the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada in 1998. I was just saying that if you ordered from CP gear, you would have to be clear that you want HF of C as they probably woulnd get many requests for it.

"The monogram HLI was used by The Highland Light Infantry of Canada, which amalgamated with the Scots Fusiliers of Canada in 1965 to form The Highland Fusiliers of Canada. The Crown represents both the regiment's loyal service and the appellation Royal accorded by Her Majesty the Queen in 1998."

As for the colour, I cannot really comment, as I was not in back when you were, but to my knowledge it shoud have been Olive Drab that was issued (which CP gears has). I still have some OD issued kit.

Double Tapper November 23rd, 2008 23:44

I'll look again, but the colour looked wrong, like the wrong shade of green.

Kilo Charlie November 23rd, 2008 23:50

I am pretty sure I got a bunch of OD ones from them back in my early days, when I got issued the OD stuff...... I'll take a look and scan in a picture, so you can see the colour.
