Ok, I just ordered a pair of Arena Flakjak goggles, and soon had second thoughts and realized "i need a paintball approved mask to play airsoft on my local field." Does anyone know if they are certified as a paintball approved mask? They have certifications such as "Z87.1 - 2003 Plus certified" and "MIL-STD-662F (as related to 22 cal., 17 grain, Type 2 fragment simulating projectile","All lenses exceed ANSI Z87.1 standard." Does this mean i can use them on my local field? Or am I going to have to buy a paintball mask? Thanks.

A paintball approved mask is one with full face and ear protection.

Yea, i ment to add the mask and lens must be paintball approved. The face shield is allowed to be taken off showing only the goggles and lens at the players own risk.

Most of paintball fields don't care about the rating of your goggle. The eye protection must be from a recognized paintball company, thats the only thing they care about due to insurance reason. You can wear an iron man suite to the game and they will still make you slap on a pair of paintball goggles. Its good to have paintball approved eyewear and anything else rated, for those games on a regulated paintball field, or for those that are not.

Does anyone know a good brand of paintball goggles? I've done some research (probably not enough on the forum), and read the gear FAQ, I know what I want (JT mask) but which model?

What have other players experienced? What model has the best protection and least "incumbering" (that is, you can actually use the sights relatively well). I know one of the problems with the paintball masks is that it blocks you from actually being to functionally using the sights.

Nobody still has told me if the goggles are paintball aproved haha. The reason im wondering is because i saw another post saying they were paintball approved, but i just wasn't too sure on that.

email the company and ask them. I quickly checked the site, and it mentioned ANSI, but not approved ASTM rating for paintball..

They are not approved for paintball.

A good JT one would be the Flex 8. It's has a closer cheek weld than the Spectra.
