paint for golden guns!

Hi' I was looking for different krylon paints, and I found this type of paint they have. they call it "Premium Metallic"

I was wondering if it could work to paint , for exemple, a TM Desert eagle , painted in gold!!! imagine a Golden Deagle!

or to transform a normal AK into "Ze Lord of AKs"!!!

it would be SICK!

You're going around pretending to deal cocaine using borax arent you? :D

If you were going to try it, Id suggest first trying to paint a plastic lawn chair with it and see how well it looks....

yea be careful you dont get the krylon "metallic" that says its silver or gold and has shiny gold or chrome looking caps. i bought some for a pistol. its color is actually a dull grey with some sparkles in it and not shiny at all. think of a silver or gold crayon, thats what color theyre like

Theres some guy here locally who painted a kraken or some other clone ak-47 with shiny gold spray paint, looks quite well... just like saddams golden AK.

Dusti69 August 30th, 2008 22:32

saddam actually had a gold ak? i thought all the gold ak ideas were from movies and video games
that one i saw on evike says its actual 24 karat gold plating

Some one didn't read the instructions and shake the can for 2 minutes prior to use.. lol

There is a spray painted gold ak on the wall at XT in Winnipeg, I wouldn't use it for gaming though. Looks ok anyway I guess.

i did shake it a lot. its just not a chrome paint, the cap is very misleading
and i have seen that saddams gold ak before. someone posted it on here along with the gold dragunov and i just thought they were both aeg's

The "golden" paints aren't any good, they are okay when the paint is fresh, but even after the paint dries, it will lose it's golden color and become brownish when you touch it

Jimski August 31st, 2008 04:54

yeah you have to lay them on a very smooth surface also, like an undercoat of gloss black acrylic.
plus loads of gloss clear coat over the gold.
and it will still melt through use unless you cook it. :D

yea thats kinda how my can of "silver" is. i might as well have a can of plain grey
the only use i found for it so far was repainting the bolt on my ak and even then i took some accryllic clear nail polish over it to seal it after itd dried

and what do you mean by "cook it"? like spraypaint??

i used to watch american chopper all the time and theyd always send off their parts to be professionally painted and anodized. it might be a big pain in the ass but maybe worth it at the same time if you could find a company somewhere nearby that did professional painting or anodizing where they spray the powder on and anneal it in a kiln or oven whatever equipment they use and take or ship it to them and have them do a nice gold anodized job on it

yes, in an oven.

Auhydride August 31st, 2008 08:25

a paint oven, ordinary ovens will cook the paint until it start to burn unless you are really careful with the tempeture.
Best solution is to use real gold :b
