removing wires from a mini connector.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. But I broke the latch on a mini connector and want to replace the plastic piece, how do I go about removing the wires from the connector? It is a male end. Thanks.

Get a very small flathead screwdriver. (I'm talking watch-tools size here, or mini tool set)

Find the orientation of the metal tabs that hold in the wire connector ends.

Shove the tiny screwdriver in the front of the connector so that you flatten the metal tabs (there should be 2 opposite each other on each wire connector end).

After they're flat you should be able to pull the wire right out. To reassemble, pull the tabs out a bit, stick them in the new connector, and they should catch.

If the little hooks survive the extraction, go easy on them, they won't take much more reshaping. Worse comes to worse, swing by and I'll pop a new set of pins and a connector on for you.

I also have a pin extractor. If you have time to drop by before the weekend, I can pop it out for you in less than 5 seconds.

Also, if you wanna drive up to Montreal, I will Dean's Plug your arse
and make the problem go away...

I wouldn't mind you dean plugging MY ass once my ak gets in -- the rewiring's done, but I think the guy left Tamiya-type connectors all over the place. Dean plug a man's ass and he will be happy for a day. Teach a man to Dean's plug himself, and he will be happy for a lifetime!

Go to a hobby store, and pick up some metal tubing that has the right Inner Diameter as the plugs outer.

Shove the tube in, pull the wire out.

Has been my extractor for some time now :)

You can get a 2 piece terminal removal tool set at princess auto for 10$, works like a charm on tamiya plugs.
