Markings rubbing off
 

Anyone have a fix for select fire markings rubbing off? A way to fix if they have or to prevent if they have not yet?

Depending on the gun, but if the markings are "cut" into the metal/plastic and the surrounding areas are a smooth finish, use white crayon to fill in the markings (go at 90deg to each and every line, fill them all in) and then just rub with your finger til the surrounding areas rub off. If it's something like an MP5 with a fine pebbly finish around the markings, pretty much screwed unless you go the paint route.

years and years practice of painting 1/35 scale military models helps. you can do some crazy shit when your painting a face the width of a cigerette.

If it is rubbing off from say an MP5 series, you might be able to track down an ICS lower receiver which offers deeply engraved fire selector icons and I believe are TM compatible. However that is pretty much the only option for that particular gun. The G36 series or other HKs, metal body armalites or custom metal bodies, the only way to preserve them is to perhaps cover them with a layer of clear tape, but that looks a tad bit ugly.

They're a bit thinner than a cigarette. More like the average size of an emoticon, really. I prefer 1/16th scale. P'raps I'll win best in show 2 years in a row, tomorrow in Vancouver!

And about the rubbing off... If you go to your local hobbyshop, they quite possibly will have sheets of blank decal printer for inkjet printers. Get one with a white background, either find an image of the selector switch, or make one in an image designing program, print it off, put some liqud decal film, or enamel dull coat over the decal, and put it onto your gun.

you might be able to have them engraved deeper either by laser or convencionial engraving methods. dont know how easy it would be though

i unno wud tis work, but u cud try to use like that crazy clear nail polish stuff the ladies use, i never tried it so dont take my word for it.

well, keep nail polish remover as far away from a plastic gun as possible...its acetone and is easily one of the best ways to melt your gun.
