It's right here in this thread...

you should take you own advice once in a while Grey, reading won't kill you, he asked for a GBB doctor in TO, please point out to me on that list you linked who the GBB tech is.

Greylocks August 9th, 2006 19:47

If the gun doctors dont know about GBB, even the basics, I'd be surprised. And if all else fails, dont tell me ASC armoury would not be able to help?

Think outside the box.

A side note, if you do know who on the list could help him, why not say so?

Most AEG docs won't go close to GBBs with a 10 foot pole.

GBBs are compounded with so many finicky little issues and gremlins that even most experienced AEG smiths won't know where to start looking.

Also, knowing one gun doesn't mean you can figure out the rest, unlike AEGs. GBB doctors need to know each GBB family from each different brand.

Just because I know Marui Hi-Capa and 1911s doesn't mean I can figure out WA .45 frames. I know very simple basics, but there is a learning curve involved.

Compound all these issues in to hourly labour rates... *YIKES!*

safx, If you can't find someone to help you at a reasonable rate, contact me. I can help you with some of your guns, but my rates aren't cheap.

Talk to me over PM and we'll see where we can go.

Unfortunately, there are no listed GBB gun doctor's in the greater toronto area because of the former reason I mentioned. They can be a real pain in the butt to work with.

that list also needs some major updating, only 2 gun docs for all of Ontario...

Thanks Illusion, I'm waiting to hear back from Manchovie and Allen who play at TTAC3, they both come highly recommended by players there. I guess I could also talk to Brian about who maintains his rental guns at the gym. I'll give you a shout if I can't get any help from these guys. Cheers, Steve

hmph... good question I have 2 KWA g19s down right now... handed them off to see if MADMAX can do anything with them...

if not... I will have to buy replacements

Raygis LasVegas August 9th, 2006 23:35

I have some experience with GBB pistols. If you still have some troubles, send me a PM.

Identity August 10th, 2006 02:42

I only have experience with the KJW G23 and the TM HI-CAPA 4.3...

Grim Fandango August 10th, 2006 02:53

I'd say Madmax, since he knows more about GBBs than anyone else I know, but he might be a bit busy with ASC Armoury and all. Try Wil at SD-Unit. He's fixed 2 GBBs for me in the past.

rosie August 10th, 2006 08:32

Make sure you at least check with Manchovie... I have seen his work first hand, and he knows his shit...

BloodSport August 10th, 2006 09:53

The guys at Xtreme Tactics in Winnipeg might be able to help as well, as far as I know they fix all their pistols in house there (seen them working on a few). Out of the way and involves shipping for you, but if all else fails.

We don't regularly do GBB repairs for the very good reason that they can be long, difficult, sometimes impossible, and every frame and model is different. I've been repairing AEGs for 5 years, and I won't even consider working on a GBB, I don't even like touching my own. It is an entirely different discipline than working on an AEG.

That being said, you could contact Manchovie. He will be doing gunsmith work at ASCA, and he might consider servicing a GBB.

Greylocks August 10th, 2006 12:58

The idea was to start with the list, do a few emails or PMs, and then you'll find out the folks you seek. The specific doctors may not touch GBB guns, but probably (as seen) know who will.

Alternately, the doctor's list could be modified. But it is a research resource open to you to get you started.

That searching trick applies to many questions. Even if it seems to answer nothing directly, it gives you a way to find more information.
