STAR UMP possible motor problem?

Hi, I recently purchased a STAR UMP. Earlier today I was testing it to see how well it performs.
I noticed right away that it would only fire one shot on semi auto, then stop functioning. I switched it to full auto and it worked fine, switched back to Semi and same problem, it fired one then stopped working. By stopped working I mean every trigger pull on semi, following the first that worked, would not make a sound at all, just a blank pull.

So I ran one full 110 round mag through on full auto, no problems. I only got halfway through the second mag before the motor started making a funny noise and the gun no longer fires. It sounds like a loud cordless drill.

I know extremely little about how airsoft guns work as I have very little practical experience with anything internal. So my best guess is that something has either broken or disconnected in between the motor and the piston?

The motor is: "High Torque Flat Motor" as stated in the manual. If anyone has any experience with this type of problem can you please PM me or post here. If you happen to be a gun doctor within an hour or so from Orillia Ontario, I would be interested in giving you some business.
Thank you.
Brian

Oh if anyone is interested, the gun shot GREAT for that first mag, I was very happy with the performance out of the box...you know, 'till it fried..

maybe you didnt charge the battery long enough, or maybe the battery isnt properly connected inside the gun

Did you try re-seating the motor. Sounds like your motor height is not set right. Try adjusting it.

Yeah, it could be taht the motor is not seating on the gears properly.
It sounds like when you shoot semi auto on a TM gun and then when it doesnt go a full gear, It stops and it wont shoot, making that clicking noise.
Use an allen key and where the motor is fitted adjust it and see if the gun starts shooting.

Nothing to do with the battery. As long as he fully charged it the first time then it should be fine.

Syphen and myself pulled the entire damn thing apart today. The problem was the spur gear stripped a whack of teeth off. I do not know how that would happen on a brand new gun. When I get a replacement part, what should I look at to make sure that when the gun is put back together, that this does not happen so quickly again?

For anyone wondering:

It is a version 3 mechbox
Short Type motor (I assume that means 700?)

Before we get replacements and put this sucker back together, if anyone has any questions about the internals please feel free to ask, I cannot guarantee an answer but I will try.
Thanks for all of the suggestions, I checked each one. I will try to take a pic of the stripped gear if I can grab a digicam.

It happened because the motor screw wasn't set right is what I am thinking

It uses a stick battery, why sell a G36C for an AK? I mean, AK's are cool and all, but G36's are v3 as well.
