WE G17 Slide gets stuck and vents gas through barrel
 

I got a "WE G17 Gen 4" used and gamed with it 4 times. On the fourth game the slide got stuck in one position. I can get the slide to go fully foreword although I have to pull back really hard then let go. Hitting the back of the slide really hard works too. Then when I put a mag in to see if it fires, it vents gas through the barrel.

I went to my local airsoft store and they identified that it is not fully a WE G17. It is actually a WE G17 lower frame with a KWA G17 slide/slide internals. They put one of their WE G17 slides on my WE G17 lower and it seems to cycle. Then they put my KWA G17 slide on their WE G17 lower and it got the same problems. They said they are not sure how to fix it other than I need a WE slide.

I'm slightly surprised I was able to game with it 4 times. Now I'm wondering if anyone know how to fix it. Or if I should just buy WE compatible slide internals.

Your problem is that WE/TM and KWA/KSC are completely incompatible systems. I'm surprised it functioned at all...

Well I got it used and it shot out the box. Then I did game with it as my primary 4 times in CQB matches.

I might have to track down the previous owner on this one. What might have happened is the previous owner somehow did a fix that allows a KWA G17 slide work on a WE G17 lower frame. I'm guessing whatever the fix was, its no longer working.

Lol I think that previous owner was just a dunce and had db luck in making the slide work. KWA slides should NEVER work with WE lower frames.

How is this even possible? I'm very surprised that it even fired at all. Best thing to do now is to either find a complete slide and internals, or build one. I would go with the latter.

Given the amount of people that don't believe this is possible. Ask Brian at TTAC, he saw it shoot when it had to be chrono. Then he was there when the slide started to stick.

Brian was the first person to point out that the problem could be with the blowback housing. Then Toronto Airsoft pointed out that the nozzle is not WE/TM.

I'm shocked that it functioned aswell, I consider my KSC/KWA glocks and my WE glocks like apples and oranges they're so different.

Thats not KWA its KJW, mystery is over :(

That does raises more questions on my end.

How compatible is KJW on a WE G17?

What make is the slide? I never seen a KJW G17.

Doing some research KJW is a TM clone. Also as far as I can see, KJW does not make the G17. So does the blowback housing sit well in a WE G17?

Then going back to my original question. I'm curious to know if anybody has a fix for this? Should I find replacement slide internals and hope that is the best fix?

This just got FAR less interesting. WE and KJW are both TM clones but slightly different. Which explains it working for a bit then stopping. Not 100% which parts are and are not compatible.

I got a parts WE G18. The blowback housing unit sits more snug on my G17 slide. With the KJW blowback housing unit there is some room to wiggle.

I'm looking into getting an aftermarket TM/WE blowback housing that resembles the stock blowback housing. Seems that evike has all the parts I need. Plus stock WE G17 internals. I might buy from them. Unless anyone else suggest I buy somewhere else, I can seem to find Canadian stores that has these things in stock.
