WA/Guarder Feeding Nozzle Probs
 

Hi Guys,
The gun in question is a SV Prokiller F5, but the solution should apply to all WA .45s. Last night I installed a Guarder feeding nozzle (the blue one) and a Guarder mag seal rubber. Dry fired it a few times, and everything was great. This morning I go to test it with BBs, and it won't fire at all. The nozzle seems to get stuck in the forward position, so as the slide cycles back it gets stuck. I took the slide off, and it looks like the little runners that connect the nozzle to the slide are too big or something, because they barely move at all. So I took the whole thing apart again, and to my dismay found that not only were the runners significantly worn down, but the very tip of the nozzle, the part that shoots gas at the BB, was somewhat damaged as well. Also, the mag seal has a small chunk ripped out of it, in the shape of an elongated rectangle. I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. Could it be a manufacturer's defect? Did I install it wrong? Any help is appreciated, as always. Just in case it makes a difference, here are the upgrades:

Metal Slide
Guarder full aouto hammer
Guarder feeding nozzle
Guarder chamber
CP match trigger
CP mag release mechanism
Upgraded recoil/hammer spring
Run on propane

Another possibility I just thought of is the fact that the frame has been sanded down and clearcoated. I suppose technically this could affect surface to surface tolerances, but it seems unlikely, considering the problem lies in the slide itself.

The mag rubber issue is a chronic issue with WA GBBs. They're replacable at least.

The damaged nozzle tip makes me think that you're having a loading issue. Check to see if your mag fingers (the retaining bits which prevent bbs from squirting out of your mag) are damaged. Double feeds or premature feeds (bbs which eject on the way back) can cause nozzle damage when it slams forward and a bb is loose in the breech area.

As to the stuck nozzle, is your blowback oring in place? They sometimes blow out or get really loose (with too much silicone application) and bind between the nozzle body and oring seating.

It seems that the problem lies in mating a metal slide with a Guarder feeding nozzle. The runners on the nozzle are too big. I'm going to sand them down a bit and see if that helps.

That's almost definitely the problem. I had to do that when I put a metal slide on my SVI 5" with the same Guarder nozzle. Just file a tiny bit, and move it around a bit in the slide to see if it's good... repeat and so on.

Excellent, that's good news. If it works we can move this thread to the solutions board!

Update: I've sanded down the nozzle, and it cycles great now, but it just blew out another mag seal. WTF? Nic needs YOUR help, desperately!

What do you mean by blew out? FYI, WA mag rubbers only last about a thousand rounds on propane.

A chunk of it was actually torn out, and the thing was literally brand new.

I've had the same thing happen to me, but I ran out of rubbers to test the mod, so I don't know whether its the problem.

On the bottom of the nozzle is the bb loading arm, right? If you look at the underside of the arm, you'll see that the bottom starts out flat, and then there is an abrupt change in direction and it starts sloping downwards towards the gas chamber. Take some sandpaper and sand down that abrupt angle change, and see whether it helps.

I'll try that. Another possibility that I thought of is the mag release. Could it be that the CP mag release holds the mag too high?

It happens on my stock mag release as well, so that isn't the problem.

I guess one could argue that the aftermarket slide makes the entire blowback chamber sit too low.

Just wondering, is the tip of your feeding nozzle dented?

Yes it is. I don't think the slide has anything to do with it though, since the gun functioned great with the stock loading nozzle.
