Ghillie suit? Yay or nah?
 

Is it worth getting a ghillie suit for fielded airsoft games?

I'd say yes. I would recommend making one yourself, it'll be a heck of a lot cheaper and you'll appreciate it more in my opinion as I've started one and can't wait to field it. I would also recommend a "ghille mane" or some times called a "ghillie poncho". Much more lightweight, easier to make and take off if you get hot or don't want to wear it.

If you play as a sniper, yes. Just don't make a chubaka ghillie. Don't buy those that have the garnish on the front.

It's better to build your own. It's very easy, it just take patience and time.

It cost about 10-20$ to build. 50$ if you need to buy a BDU.

Could any of you direct me on where to start. Adding my vegetation from the area would be great especially for effect. Also I have heard a lot of drawbacks to trying the sniper role. If I decide to go a different way. What kind of load out would I go with being from the by area. I have a full cadpat uniform as it sits now, but it's starting to get board of it haha

It you dont mind the heat and the smell and you run a bolt action then yes itbis a helpfull tool in your kit. I have a full one in a green for summer time and a tan and brown head and shoulders one for fall and early spring. uee ek all the time. Used one today infact and had guys wondering where the hell i was even when looking directly at me.

I made a few as well. A few years back. Took me a week to get it almost perfect. And loved it. Sold it for good coin when I stopped wearing it.. Now since I don't really play airsoft anymore I wanna make another one for hunting with my crossbow on a bipod.

Advise I can give you is do not rush it if you decide to make one. Take your time and it will come out awesome.

If I'm planning to snipe for the entire day I wear mine. Don't make the mistake of buying the full suit tho. After using the 3 piece suit for half an hour my first time, I removed the pants and just went with the jacket and the hood. The pants caught in so much underbrush when I walked it just didn't work.

They can really help. I played mine yesterday for the first time (scratch built by me) and at one point in the game one of the guys from the other team posted right up next to me. He had no clue I was there until I whispered those sweet words "Mercy". Hell, at one point someone on my team didn't see me until he tried to hide in the same spot as me.
Like everyone is saying, take your time and plan. I run just the top with open front and a hood. Still hot as hell.

There's ups and downs. Like any camo, the key to it working is to stay still.
After a while you get used to what to look for; "Hey look at that fluffy bush!"
Some do work REALLY well, and it's usually excellent at fooling most players
It does make you a much bigger distortion when you're moving though
And make sure you camo EVERYTHING.
You wouldn't believe how many times I've spotted a sniper because "Hey look, a bush with a rifle!" or "Hey look, that bush has a pair of black gloves!"

I would advise you get the cape or if you make your own, just ghillie your back half. Because honestly the full ghillie wrap is just entirely useless. Firstly, the preferred position is prone. Second, the ghillie is totally useless when you're standing up because you don't blend into anything and you look like a big swamp monster. And third, it REALLY gets in the way of any LBV you might have.

This is mine. Looks dark in the photo but blends very well at the field I was playing. Plus this was a pre-veg picture. Remember, rubber bands and fists full of grass, brush, leaves, etc are key as well!
