Making a Glock trigger safety for a KJW
 

The newer KJW Glock's lack of a trigger safety finally got to me.
I took a piece of scrap ABS plastic used my dremel and needle files to get the shape more or less right. The pin to hold it in place is already on the trigger(one less thing to worry about). I then drilled a small hole iinside the trigger and inserted a cut down Bic lighter flint spring so the safety returns to "safe" after releasing the trigger.

Nice man, I have wanted to do the same for a while. This makes me want to do it even more.

I have always been curious about these. What do they actually do? Seriously....

If the gun is going to go off the trigger is the last place I want the safety. Really its not even really a safety beucase if anything snaggs the trigger, its going off.....

not when there is a 5-12lbs trigger pull depending on what type of trigger you get. The fact is, unless a branch somehow snags the trigger while its falling from an impossible height, and said branch catches the middle trigger safety just right and maintains constant pressure and then manages to have enough momentum to apply said aforementioned trigger weight, the gun (the RS version anyway) is NOT going off...

So why would you need a trigger safety then?

legal liability

If the center of the trigger isn't pushed down (something snags the side or something like that) the trigger will not depress.

If you're using the gun like a gun, then when you pull the trigger, you disengage the safety.

I've read that this trigger "safety" was originally meant for an aesthetic reason: indicating that the hammer is cocked.

Thats about all it does....

The Euros have put out a bunch of odd pistols with odd controls to suit certain circumstances or requirements. Back in the late 70s all the police forces on the continent were ditching their WW II sidearms for new wonder nines. The US police along with Euro armed forces also on the hunt.

Some hung their hat on DA/SA pistols with a decocker. Others didn't like that inital heavy pull you get with a DA and weren't worried about giving a dud round in the chamber a second heavier tap. On the real deal that trigger within a trigger does much more than just stop movement.

Well regardless of what it does or doesnt do in real life, Good job man looks good and its functional so i say mission accomplished. I too would like to do this to my buddies Glock so now that i know it can be done it shall be done. So thanks for takin the time to post and take pics.

I know there are lots of KJW's missing safeties, happy to share my take on it.
It took quite a bit of test fitting/ re-shaping, but it is nice to have it on there.
The Bic spring came to mind as I lit my first smoke this morning:D

Is it actually functional? Acts as a safety?

Yes it does work.
If I try pulling the trigger without pressing the safety, the small tab prevents any movement.

how'd you remove the trigger and the pin? the pin seems to be glued in or something, i can't get it out.
