1st Airsoft Project: build M4 from scratch
 

I'm new to airsoft (in the sense of playing and spending copious amounts of money on customization) and instead of spending said money on a whole gun, I'm looking to build an M4 from scratch. The internals aren't a problem, it's the body that will be a challenge for me to settle on(due to unavailability of importing). If anyone can give me Info on where to get metal pieces/furniture, it'd be much appreciated. On a side note, if anyone knows where to get metal receivers with colt/diemaco trades, that's the first, most important step. Thanks

Without being age verified, no one is going to tell you where to get a full gun or a receiver.

The first most important step of all would be to get aged verified. This lets you get better deals from a wider range of sellers then otherwise.

A G&P body with Colt Canada/Diemaco trades will probably run you $350 alone. Just saying....

As far as scratch building, I wouldn't suggest it unless you have experience in something related like mechanical engineering or are a millwright or something. It'll be a lot of headache without any airsoft gundoc/maintenance experience.

People have easily poured $1200+ into scratch building/modifying a gun to an alright C7/C8 for random things that make it unique like TRI-AD rails and proper trades and such.

Start small and buy a King Arms M4 or something then slowly build up from that changing out parts whenever, it's a lot more cost effective at the end of the day.

I probably won't have as much disposable income in the future as I do now, so if this is the last chance I get to put effort and creativity into a rifle, I'm going big or going home. But, as Styrak has said, without being age verified, I'm getting ahead of myself. I've contacted Larry, so I'll have to come back to this after such a time as I've been verified.

I'm new to this and am looking into do a M4 build as well, are the bodys made form a T6 alloy and nicely anodized?

Usually monkey metal, though there are higher enc CnC'ed kits. The later cost a ball and a half though.

Alluminium (non zinc alloy, aka monkey metal) bodies are few and far between, and they have a large cost.

I looked around for a PRIME kit I saw a while back, no success, but the price tag was 2200$.

Bodies run around 400-600$, multiply by two for Canadian pricing.

Yeah, I've decided to just buy a KA M4A1 and refit it. The total cost of all of my furniture alone is approximately $460, nevermind a metal body+gearbox, motor, wiring. It might be cheaper if the M4 is front wired because I wont have to pay for a battery crane stock. Is it front wired?

Depends. Most RIS with a crane stock and no PEQ box are rear wired, but anything with plastic hand guards usually is. or RIS w/ PEQ box battery case.

Yeah, it has the tubular hand guard and the traditional M4 collaspable stock

front wired. If you want it front wired and RIS your either gona want a MOE hand guard and add rails to it, a Voltr CASV (KA makes one, so does D-boys but d boys might not fit) or get a PEQ battery box.

or u can get 2 m4 handguard rails top/bottom and install both in the holes in the handguard doesnt look as good as a ris but is very cost efficient while still allowing u to mount what you like ie fore grip, flashlight, optics, peq box, and so on. still leaving you front wired and enough room in the hand guard for your battery.

Yea I guess and another option would also be a Tri-ad style of mount near the front sight.
