Sniper rifles
 

Hey guys I was looking to invest in a quality sniper rifle to add to my arsenal and I have narrowed it down to two. 1. The a&k svd - good quality externals with fairly good quality stock internals, good upgradability, long barrel hopefully meaning good accuracy. 2. The well mb03 - A little bit cheaper, but I have heard good things, good upgradability, reliable. If I got the a&k I probably wouldn't upgrade it much, but if I got the well mb03, I might sink an extra 100-150$ into it. I'm looking for a relatively light gun, with good accuracy (Max shot out to 200 feet), but also one that's fun to shoot.

If you want the sniper role, better invest in something good from the start.

Buying a clone will simply cost your more money in the end.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

Oh, and get AV'd.

The bolt on the SVD was not meant to be a BA harder spring = bigger pain to cock
the well is good BA design but honestly pay the extra and get yourself a TM vsr-10 or a CA m24.

Doesn't CA make an SVD also?

A friend of mine has a springer dragunov and ive shot it a hand full of times and it is difficult to pull, the cocking handle is too small, on a bolt action gun atleast you have something to grab.

exactly a SVD is a semi auto rifle,
and bolt action is meant to be pulled and cocked after each shot

I purchased a Well MB-03 to get my sniper certificate. Shoots 435 fps out of the box, very precise. Not compatible with TM mags. Made my first kill during training at 175 feet.

I'm very happy with the quality and performance and the price is the icing on the cake:)

If I were to buy a clone, and then drop 200$ ish in upgrades into it, would it still not be worth it?

Depends.

Clones have lower (or non-existent) QA.

So, you could spend all the money you want on the best Laylax or PDI or whatever upgrades and the tolerances would be off and you wouldn't have the performances you want.

Or you could buy a TM VSR-10, and get higher tolerances, better QA, and upgrades that were made specifically for this springer.

But you could be lucky, and have an extremely competent clone springer.

No upgrades, standard performance out of the box performance. I don't think I will upgrade it, maybe a precision inner barrel.

Your first post does not make sense.

Quality bolt action rifle is the exact opposite of the two rifles you want to buy.

I guess you wanted to say decent quality and reliable.

In that case I would REALLY recommend you to get the Echo1 M28. It is a copy of the CA M24, and compatible with all the upgrades on the long run.

It is VERY accurate out of the box and with a surprizingly soft spring, it shoots 400 on the spot.

I had 7 Well bolt actions in the past, and none of them where consistent or accepted upgrades right-on.
I also upgraded 3 TM VSR-10s and 2 Maruzen APS-2 Type96. They are worth the initial investment.

Remember that in the long run, you would save only 100-200$. I am a gun doc so I don't even pay to have my guns fixed. But the amount of work that theses clone rifles need to barely work is just stupid. Worth way more than 300$ of work in my opinion.

So if you are serious about sniping, get a CA M24, TM VSR-10, Maruzen APS-2 Type 96, TM L96 (if you can find one, but they are just amazing) or a Echo1 M28.

If you just want to try it and don't mind the rifle exploding on you after 2-3 months, feel free to get anything.

Stick with TM, Maruzen for springers. The quality can't be beaten. But expect to drop another $300 - $500 into a springer afterwards. AEG's 99% of the time don't make good snipers, or are outmatched by springers. Gas can be the way to go, but very very expensive to do them right. Not to mention more expensive to buy, fix, and upgrade. A TM VSR is your best bet.

Would the Echo1 M28 have any compatible upgrade parts?
