need help with lipo batt

is it normal for a lipo that was charged only once and to discharge it self with out using to not be able to charge again looks dead to my charger !!!
thank,s gillis

How long did you leave the lipo? They normally don't discharge. I left mine alone once for about 2months and slap it back in my gun and play a whole game with it without charging.

Sounds damaged. Throw it out before it burns down your house.

im not sure about lipo but i had a lifepo before and i left it for about 3 weeks and it just stopped charging. so im going to assume lipo's are the same

No that is not normal. That's like saying your cell phone would behave the same way or a cordless DeWatt drill.

What brand is the battery? It's probably the battery/charger.

That is not normal. If you do not have the capability to check the voltage of each cell...then dispose of the pack properly.

That's your problem airsoft branded battery. Get a RC battery from a reputable RC site or RC shop.

Make sure you dispose of it properly if you decide to throw it out.. I don't know too much about lipos but I do know I wouldnt do anything before getting it checked. Batteries arent cheap so I suggest taking it to an electrical supply store if you don't have the meters and have them test it out to make sure it's functioning properly and safely. They shouldnt charge you anything and will probably dispose of it for you if it's dead. You can pick up some spare fuses while youre at it.

Unless you're running something with VERY limited vacancy for a battery, I'd suggest sticking to a nice 9.6 nimh. They're less of a pain and a little harder to mess up. Furthermore, if it's an 11.1v lipo, it's pretty much eating your gun (doubling wear and tear on your internals).

I know there are people that swear by lithium polymers, but even a 7.4v can explode or burn ferociously if you're not careful.

Aren't cheap??
My 7.4v LiPo's were $9 each, and my 11.1v 4900 was $37
As opposed to NiMH, my anpeq batts were $45 each, and a 9.6v 5000mah battery was around $140 when the 5000 cells were brand new lol

agreed. Lipo's and lifepo's are cheap compared to quality NiMH. Currently running Intellect Life 9.9v 1100/1200mah on all my guns and they were $35/39. My last NiMH 9.6v custom 2/3A pack was well over $70.

You are using a BALANCE CHARGER aren't you?
A regular trickle charger will ruin your LI/PO and burn down your house .....which will ruin everything else.

gillis June 14th, 2011 22:36

yes i did use a charger with balancer
thank,s for the tips
will go with a different brand
thank,s again
