Need help finding suitable AEG

Hey guys i need your help, i've now played 5 games with my ICS Sig 552 and i've come to the conclusion that this AEG does not fit me at all. I have therefore decided to sell it this autumm and buy a new one for the spring of 2011, however i am not quite sure what to get and my local store does not have a huge selection yet because he just started in 2010. So a i need the wise advice of the experts on ASC to help me find the AEG that will fit my style of play. Here are my criteria, thanks for any help.

Lightweight: no more than 6.5lbs
Short :no longer than 34"
Must fit battery in stock
<ust have top rail and bottom rail for Tactical grip optional
Must use M4 style mags
between 500-600$
if possible not need a ton of upgrades( i'm not a tinkerer)
also quite enough if possible

again thank you for your help

Search features are awesome dude. Try that first, read about what is out there and come to your own conclusion. Not only will you learn a few things along the way, but doing the work yourself is way more satisfying.

Of course getting AV'ed would help with your local store not having a huge selection.

I will be getting AV'd i'm already in contact with the local verifier, however i have done quite a bit of research but there are so many AEG's that i'd like to have yet i don't know if we can get them here.

Once you're AVed, you can get anything that you want.

Sounds to me like you need a SCAR. You should be able to find a variant to suit your budget but as always you do get what you pay for.

A SCAR weighs way more than 6.5 pounds. It's upwards of 10 pounds and that's without the accessories.

I guess I better go buy a new scale then. What brand/version have you got on the scale there?

I hear the real one is only 7.5 lbs, and from my experience the airsoft version at least in my hands is lovely light AEG to tote about all day.

I hear the VFC Scar CQC is light and a very good AEG out of the box.

HKGhost October 5th, 2010 00:53

what about a pdw? just you need a peq box for the battery.

I guess that's where my problem is. I have the Echo1 SCAR and it is a bit heavier than my CYMA 1928 Thompson.

I guess I should have gotten the Light version. :(

Sorry man, my bad. I do Love the SCAR though. it's an awesome looking gun.

I did some minor work on a friends not to long ago and the VFC was nice, only thing I didn't like about it was some of the clear plastic internals. Although they might be good I am not a fan of clear plastic internals lol

My WE scar weighs 6.6lbs with out the mag in it. The aeg shouldn't be much heavier than that, The bolt prob has the same amount of metal as a mech box lol.
umm... what about an m4 with a buffer tube lipo? Or a g36c IIRC you can get them in top rail flavor and a m4 adapter well.

venture October 5th, 2010 09:52

any mp5 variant fits your specs.

Evil_yd October 5th, 2010 11:05

MP5 and G36 don't use M4 mags
PDW does not have a stock for the battery and thats 1 of the things that bugs me about my 552. so far i think my options are

HK416
M4
M16 again might be too long
L85
Famas
Tar 21
Scar

No M4 mags in a MP5. Maybe a G36 or a HK33 with a magwell converter.
