Air Guns/Replica's Help - Movie
Hi guys,
The past few weeks I've been looking extremely hard to find guns that look similar to well.. real guns (I don't care if they have the orange tip). I need cheap guns like they don't even have to work. I just need rifles and handguns. L80's, M16's, M4's, Deagle's, Mp5's anything basically except for AK's. I can't seem to find any that look anything close, and I've already tried shipping from the states... well that didn't turn out well :/ I realize the laws are messed in Canada, I can't seem to get anything that's cheap and looks real. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Is there any gun graveyards? I need these for a film. Are there any guns around 50 - 100 dollars, or even less I don't care if they don't work as long as they look real. Also, I still don't understand the laws in Canada, if it has to be clear or something, that I can't have I need it to not be clear. Thanks guys, Sorry if it really is a newbie question. |
as for the OP, no one will hand you their gun, would you give a gun to a random person? yes you are a random person, you may not feel like it but you just show asking for gun's your random, it will take years to legitimize yourself amongst us. they are still technically guns and are very expensive, like pus said, to obtain guns your first step is readinf the stickies in the faq section

You don't want guns.
You want an Armorer/Gun Wrangler/Propmaster, they'll supply the heat. I'm taking a guess that this is a student film and if you give off the right vibe usually they'll cut you a break on the normal fee. |
All off topic, flaming and otherwise useless posts deleted and offending parties infracted.
1) Newbie Tank - NO FLAMING! 2) Age Verification was intended to prevent minors from accessing Classified sales on ASC ONLY! The "AV" Badge under you name does not give you superpowers. It grants you access to the Classified and the Age restricted areas on ASC, nothing more. If the Newbies posting here are either too clueless, lazy, stupid or arrogant (impatient "ME" generation types) to read the FAQ, search Google or even bother to look at the ads on the top and bottom right of the screen, then just don't reply. Members of this board are becoming way too hostile towards the newer players and the staff is getting sick of it. If a Newbie truely wanted honest information, they would most likely do some, I don't know, RESEARCH before blindly posting questions. |
I apologize, I came on and I wasn't in the most pleasant of moods. That was my error and I shouldn't have flamed him, it was of poor quality, and for that I am sorry. This forum section is for uncertainty and justification of an idea, and i had no right to flame this thread.

Now that my blood pressure's dropped (thanks for all those wonderful PM's you guys I infracted, gave me a good laugh) to the OP, are you part of a school/college program or is this a private venture? If you're part of a program, you're instructors will have this information. My daughter went through a theatrical program here and firearms training for stage & screen was part of her curriculum. If you're private, your best best is to local an armourer that caters to the theatrical & movie industry and see what they can do for you. There's an outside chance that some of the players in your area may rent you their guns, but that's between you and them to arrange.
If you're some kid wanting to film a "war movie" in his back yard, good luck with that. If you're actually serious, you have a lot more you need to deal with first. Be prepared to answer every question professionally and do some more research to make sure you can film what you intend where you want and what you need to do to follow through with it. |
What's your local maybe someone could point out a local resource for you?

Ya sorry, I tried to read the laws/FAQ I'll go through them again. I just really need like suggestions of look a likes or anything I can get. I'm not asking anyone to hand guns over to me, not at all.
I'm from Vancouver, BC. |

Edit: We actually don't learn about that till next semester. It's not urgent that I have these guns or whatever, but it's just something that I'd prefer to get done now, then when I'm actually shooting a film, cause it's one of those hassles I don't want to deal with. I'll just go through the BC Film Commission. |
At the top of the screen theres link for "Community". Go to BCAC and ask there. They might be able to help you more. I personally would recommend exploring the rental route.

I believe a fellow who goes by the name "Savage Haggis" can be of help to you. Contact him and see what he can do for you.

New guys, please put up your location! That way when when people answer they can tailor the reply to your geographic location.
You'd have had the right person's name last night and you could have been reading his posts on this. Hit the members list now look up the guy named abov, pick the statistics tab and start reading his post that relate to movie production. |
