Sometimes they do...but only sometimes...:(

I'd still rather have the option of the vent rather then nothing.

Where'd you get the hydro bag on the right?

Right now I'm trying to find/make a better way to attach my Camelbak to my vest, one option I found was a seperate pouch that I could drop the Camelbak into and go. The problem now is finding the material to make such a pouch.

Amazing KG3 January 17th, 2007 09:38

Lerch! play airsoft again! We need more G36 enthusiasts!

Army Issue

MrEvolution January 17th, 2007 17:30

wow, the difference between colour vibrance on those boonies is huge. have they been washed?

Lerch January 17th, 2007 19:06

I'm gonna take a guess and say that the Parklands boonie has been washed a few times. Mine was like that when I finally tracked down an issued one.
The first thing to fade is the brim ;)

[Lithium] January 17th, 2007 21:30

I personally have a pair of parklands cadpat trousers.. washed tehm once, and they were in my opinion worse then his boonie with all the fading :S

Lerch January 18th, 2007 02:03

Well it also depends if you used cold water. I'd washed mine about a dozen times in warm water and it was still nice and reasonably unfaded.

Hades January 18th, 2007 02:12

Ya the boonie has been washed once or twice. Does not really matter though seeing it is gonna be a component in my ghillie suit currently under construciton thus will not be visible under all the jute.

Lerch January 24th, 2007 04:32

Sounds like a good plan.

I think I may take inventory of all my kit tomorrow...that should take up a good couple hours of my morning :)

Zeonprime January 24th, 2007 16:26

Well I've sold all but the holster in the below pictures to Orochi from Wolfpack, but he doesn't get them til this weekend so they are still technically mine :)
I've also got Arid Issue Uniform with IASF Brassard and rank. I'll see about doing pictures of my TW Cadpat sometime.

Lerchhh.. Oh god.. lol You know.. You get like half of that for free when you join the CF.. Maybe not the 64pattern ruck, but the 84 still is okay.. You could have bought like two cars by now man.
Twenty bucks here, 45 bucks there, 80bucks that way - really does add up man.
But nice collection dude!

Lerch January 26th, 2007 17:34

Myself after a day at the range.

Also, I rigged up a mandarin collar on my shirt :D it's easy and reversible (for those who don't want trouble when returning kit).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...l/100_4012.jpg
All you have to do is sew the points of the collar back so that they're square. Then it's a simple matter of placing velcro and a 1-2" flap properly.

Does anyone know where to get cadpat PASGT covers?

philstructo February 23rd, 2007 12:04

Yeah it is a SAAV I didnt get it from South Africa tho

Hortons Heros February 23rd, 2007 12:09

The only vests I know that have been issued to CF Pers is the old LBV an a AR version, the new Tac Vest an the new ones we're trialing in A-Stan.

Dunno wtf Boarding Party or JTF uses though.

Mike,

There were some pics of Canadian troops in A-Stan with the Cadpat SADF LBV, i know they were floating around 25 Svc here in toronto, though i'm not sure of their origin.

Seals Action Gear has one. Also issue covers will with a PASGT quite nicely though you have a bit of exposed helmet on the back.

I believe MikeL is referring to vests that have been issued. We all know well that a wide variety of rigs are used (including SAAV's) by those over in Afghanistan.
I remember seeing a picture not too long ago of one soldier that had a SAAV in woodland sprayed tan...
So anyway, the SAAV has never been issued, but it has been used.

Lerch February 24th, 2007 00:17

By new issue you mean the AR model?

Lerch February 24th, 2007 00:39

Damn, I know that some units are doing trials on off-the-shelf rigs, and that TT showcased a new setup..but they're issuing a new one too?

Sounds like a good thing is about to happen.

[Lithium] February 24th, 2007 01:04

Glad to hear the current vest is likely to be replaced...

Is the replacement likely to result in old ones ending up in surplus stores? or would they need to be destroyed?

Lerch February 24th, 2007 03:02

I forsee the TV being issued the same way the '82 webbing was the last couple years before it was gone. You know..recruits get webbing until they finish their courses. I thought it was smart.

Hell I remember helping my buddy put his rucksack together.

I sold the Army a few hundred of them, I'm sure they just want them for dress up. I'd post a receipt but I think that may be counter productive to the the "Dude, I Sell Pants", thing I've been working on.

82 Webbing gone? Nope... we're still getting it issued.

Even funnier was the response of the stores Cpl.:

Me: "Um, what the devil are we gonna do with this?"
Cpl: "Hang onto it and give it back when you quit."

Ah the Army at work...

And yes, for those of us that didn't get issued an assembled Ruck Sack, they spent the rest of the kit issue day assembling each others rucks.

For those of us that were issued assembled rucks... it was damn boring.

You learn something new everyday.

philstructo February 28th, 2007 04:24

that webbing is still around man thats old school stuff

Yeoman February 28th, 2007 17:33

I'd almost rather wear that then the tac vest. *shudders*
anywho; I picked up my TAG vest this weekend, I just need three more pouches show up and I've got my new high speed low drag kit for use here in canada (I don't even want to know how much all this stuff will cost me in AR as well ugh). so hopefully said stuff will be here by this time next week.
I rock the tag plate carrier (I think that's the name?) in coyote brown (I purchased more for use in the sand box next year then airsoft gaming here). TT medic pouch on the left side, TT large GP pouch on the other to hold the nalgene bottle. might throw a different pouch(es) on there for any serious gaming. esstac admin pouch, compass holder on the top of the vest (talking to ats tactical to let me get permission to make my own clap pouch they just released in cadpat, man that pouch is perfect for what I need). depending on what I'm playing; there'll either be three HSGI universal mag pouches for the m14 or some pouches made up by one of the local retired riggers for my m4 (whenever I get it).
of course on the back of the vest for real world stuff, I'd have pouches for DD's, frags, maybe some way to attach the camlebak (not a fan of a camlebak pouch, just to cumbersome in my mind, maybe some fastex clips sewn onto the vest). probably a pouch for my PRR as well.
and also coming soon; raid in cadpat :D so can't wait. tag better hurry up and ship them out to one shot, I'm gettin impatient and darren knows that :D
so yeah pics up once I get everything. but it looks pretty slick. can't wait to game er.

Possibly last year but now we are issued everything that is current.

Just last Novemeber (2006) we were all issued Tacvests and full ICE (Cadpat not OD). Some people even got the Cadpat Bivy bags.

Now you understand why we asked "what the heck is the old webbing for". Strangely they didn't give us any mag pouches, so the webbing is totally useless but looks great collecting dust in my basement.

The only "Gucci" item we were not issued is the new "Cadpat Poncho Liner/Ranger Blanket" (I've seen them, there nice, but we didn't get them yet) and of course the Cadpat Camelbak (that seems to only go to personel on ops).

Cheers

Yeoman March 1st, 2007 22:24

Lerch March 17th, 2007 02:30

I'm putting together a new rucksack, buying the parts bit by bit :D
So far I've bought the '82 Bag, shoulder pad (and straps) and valice,
I've ordered a '64 frame, kidney pad and valice straps from CPGear,
And then there's a Des' DPM cover coming from overseas!

I'm gonna look around and see if I can find a nice sand colored spraypaint for later...suggestions?

[Lithium] March 17th, 2007 02:39

I keep seeing the Krylon 'Camoflage' tan spraypaint, but depending on your base it comes out too grey for my taste. So I picked up some yellow today, I'll see how it works, and I'll look around at work tomorrow and see what we carry as far as sand...

*edit* I just tried the yellow paint today on a spare OD pouch I've got (Phantom I believe), anyway, looks fucking close to what I want! Added a little Krylon tan...meh, looks better just with the yellow.
Anyway, not sure if this would work on your Mk6 (it being a solid surface), so yeah, I'll peek at work.

My latest rucksack, very simple and easy to get parts...'82 bag, yoke and valice, on top of a '64 frame and CPGear kidney pad.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...t/DSC04000.jpg
Just a few bugs to work out (such as the yoke likes to creak) and I still need to spray the valice and yoke.

All in all, I like it, carries all I need and still leaves plenty of room for odds and ends.

Now available
Version 2 cadpat Uniforms
Like the first Version of the Parkland Cadpat just more fade resistant
enough "market input" and the material has changed from a White cotton base to an OD cotton base. So Less noticable fade--- same great low price.

Zekk05 April 25th, 2007 19:44

with the different base... will it react differently under IR light through NVG's?

Armyissue April 26th, 2007 12:47

Parkland V1 & 2 have no cloaking abilities passed teh obvious camo pattern.

Fireboy April 26th, 2007 13:57

The G&P stock is very nice, plus you get easy access to bigger batteries.

MrEvolution April 26th, 2007 17:37

What is wrong with the tac vest? everyone seems to be hating on it.

Lerch April 26th, 2007 18:03

Did you pick up a rail for the vertical grip or did you track down a C9 grip?

On ex last week some of the Infantry res had them.

philstructo April 27th, 2007 00:07

get a SAAV like my old on for on tour =P

silent_recon April 27th, 2007 02:32

r we allowed to use our own vest for tour? cuz i hate the way the mag pouches are arranged, and where teh canteen pouch is located, i agree with you fully, theres not enough room for mags

Lerch April 27th, 2007 02:40

I'm going to venture a guess and say yes...however from what I've heard it needs to 'look' Canadian. As to say that Multicam and DPM stuff is a no-no, but Coyote and tan is fine.

philstructo April 27th, 2007 02:44

Probably OD, AR CADPAT, and TW CADPAT, TAN, would be ok get like a box mag and smugle it over there =P

if you don't know for sure. don't say anything.

Ace of Spades© April 27th, 2007 08:50

Hum.... Dam, now I want to build a C7A2 just to fit in better with my gear... Which I will have a pic of... sometime when its completed =P...

Second what Yeoman said.

For the use on non-issue chest rigs, etc it is up to your chain of command. They might let you use whatever you want, or they might limit you to a few different models, etc. An colors allowed are up to them aswell. Its the RSM's call.

I'm with the
Erik2, where they the issue cadex ones, or privatly purchased?

I should've known better, yes. *smacks self*

cadpat_tact April 27th, 2007 17:16

CADPAT modular hydration pack (CPGear)
with my first aid kit mounted to it; stupid blue hydration tube sticks out, but im too lazy to pay $30 for a cadpat sleeve for it

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/IMG_1482.jpg

MOLLE loops on it also work good with shotgun shells

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...t/IMG_1496.jpg

some more frontenac CADPAT, Parklands boonie hat, C4 gas mask, and hydration pack

Lerch April 27th, 2007 17:36

Are you actually AF or was the blue thread the flavor of the day?

cadpat_tact April 27th, 2007 17:46

I'm an Air cadet sgt so my nametapes for my cbts are all CADPAT/af

Yeoman April 27th, 2007 18:16

wouldn't be wise to wear
unless you feel like getting charged by the police.

Hades April 27th, 2007 19:59

Here's a pic of me in my current designated marksman loadout. Not really Canadian I know but all CADPAT goodness. http://photos-014.ak.facebook.com/ip...46014_1655.jpg

- Tiger Tactical custom vest
- Dropzone OPS BDU Set
- Ghillie boonie on a Parklands boonie base
- Alta Kneepads
- Surplus CF issue wet weather boots
- OD Eagle duty belt
- CP hydration pouch with CADPAT tube cover
- CP thigh holster
- CADPAT buttpack (Crown surplus)

Lerch April 27th, 2007 20:59

Very nice, but roll and tape those loose straps.

Hades April 27th, 2007 21:18

ya im going to cut and re-tac the straps when i get off my lazy ass

Zekk05 April 27th, 2007 21:55

lol lerch, my thoughts exactly.

sarcastro April 28th, 2007 03:08

Some people have time to roll and tape straps, others are to busy doing their job.

Lerch April 28th, 2007 11:42

...did you sleep last night? Then you had time to roll your straps ;)

Just kidding.

cadpat_tact April 28th, 2007 14:18

Parkland's replica CADPAT tact vest
It's a great vest, I think its worth the money. Exact same design as the Felfab vest, and the C9 pouch and canteen pouch are both modular. Also has the remoevable bayonet frog. the material seems to be waterproof and is slightly lighter in colour than the issue material. It only holds 4 mags but i still recommend it.

Zekk05 April 28th, 2007 14:26

Ive got one myself and its a good vest for what its worth. Agreed, there are tigertactical ones that are much nicer that hold a thousand more mags, but theyre also 3 to 4 times the cost! For 120$, you cant go wrong. (sure beats those common M4 vests in cadpat which run up to 80$!)

sarcastro April 28th, 2007 15:49

I don't know if I slept, I don't remember posting that, I think I'm just jealous because my straps are all over the place.

Hades set up looks just fine. Sure there are straps hanging, but nothing major off his upper body. The course/garrison mentality is pretty ridiculous. I have my straps tucked away as much as possible, but I don't tape them. Why? Because straps AREN'T easily adjustable when they're taped. And that can be an issue especially if you're training has you changing between thick and thin layers ie. Jacket, flak vest, or just your combat shirt. Even more important for bags like the Small Pack which need to be adjusted again for what you're wearing and what the weight is.

Along the same lines as Sammy said...if you're more worried about how tightly curled and taped ALL you loose straps are, you're not doing your job.

Zeonprime May 7th, 2007 13:21

some Crappy pics of my current vest configuration.

Notes about the images. Yes that's a Tan admin panel..it will be swapped out with an OD one next week. Vest has two more pouches before it's current config is complete and yup that's PSP body armour I managed to track down as surplus. also need the Cadpat tube cover for the camelback tube.
Armalite mags 16 total.
now with the pics!
