Classic Army - P90 Sportline Series
Hello all I have not done a review in a long time
Quick Disclaimer As you know this is a review thread and questions such as where did you buy it will not be answered due to underage constraints, for those age verified you don't have to worry. Classic Army P90 YouTube - Classic Army P90 - Out of Box Review http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/images/CA_P90_RDV_jpg.jpg Out of the Box adjustments 1. Replace the hop up rubber, the current one is too hard and does not give much hop when adjusted like a TM P90 would 2. May need to rework mechbox to have the loading nozzle not stick forward or inwards (Can vary in problem some have inwards sticking while others have outwards sticking) Performance - 3/5 Apr 7th - Performance Test Straight out of the box in stock form this gun performs very well. Even while it was outside my door for 4 hours it still was able to shoot. After owning the TM P90 for awhile and testing out the JG/Echo 1 P90 is seems the Classica Army P90 is more close to the TM P90 maybe even better right out of the box. Straight out the box nothing needs to be modded. Apr 23rd - Performance Test I just found out if I ever want to increase the ROF I will need a new Gearbox or fix the internals which I have heard probably will not alleviate this problem. As I read in other review it appears out of the box that the nozzle has some problems either always sticking inwards or outwards. Mine sticks Outwards on Full auto which is a big problem. Reason being is that if the nozzle sticks out wards too much then the BBs cannot feed in. Right now using a 8.4v Nimh battery but I tried my Lipo on it and the ROF is insane but its so fast that the BBs are not feeding in because the Nozzle is stuck forward causing the BBs not to drop in the loader. So that leaves a bitter taste as I remember when I had my TM P90 and tried it with a Lipo is cycled well AND Echo1 can also take Lipos and feed properly too. In conclusion CA P90 if you want a good upgrade platform Echo1 or TM P90 may be better. Don't get me wrong the CA P90 is fine the way it is but if you want crazy ROF then you may have to fix it up or look elsewhere Aesthetics 4/5 Aesthetically it is very close to the TM P90 where as the JG/Echo 1 P90 is not. The CA P90 has a nice texture and it does not look black plain fake plastic like the JG one. The only downfall is that the seams on the gun don't appear as tight as the Tokyo Marui P90s. Peripherals 3/5 The stock battery it comes with makes the gun shoot wonderfully. It comes with a battery, a charger, and some BBs. Usually I replace the stock battery with something better but I think I will be using the battery until it dies. Its the batteries that gives the peripherals a good mark. The red dot sight is probably not the best thing you would want to rely on in combat. Its fuzzy and its off, I would say the cheapest one you could get is the BSA Red dot from Dealxtreme After testing it some more the Hicap magazine definitely should be replaced with better low-cap ones. Reason being is that it seems to unwind after every 10-30 shots. 30 shots if I am lucky. Internals 4/5 The internals such as the hopup and parts on the gearboxes are the nice solid black ABs plastic parts. Looks healthier and better than the whitish yelloish plastic parts you would find on your JG/Echo 1 P90s. I really like the nice solid black internals as they appear almost the same as a TM P90. The Nylon bushings don't seem to be a problem yet. Though strangely when you shoot a BB it makes a very loud sound not like the TM which is a good thing and a bad thing depending on your playing style. Overall Review - Will constantly change over time For now I find it to be a good starters gun. Though this is the initial review and will change over time Where to get MAGS? Also for cheapo Mags go to! www.airsoftglobal.com www.rsov.com (But they have fake bullets with them so its a gamble with your money and custom seizure) ASC Retailers should have them go check it out! Price Difference And to quell anyone asking price difference, this was almost half the cost of a TM P90. And I do not regert it at all. Gun Updates June 17 2009 Gun is still operational and full functioning Semi-auto is still working and only jams up if you do not pull the trigger completely Gone through almost 5000 rounds Full-auto is still kicking it good, don't notice any misfeeds or jams Only problem is the Semi-auto sometimes if I fire too fast it does not feed. But problem can be solved with a Sector Clip on the gear but I am too lazy to fix and that problem is not all to bad since it only happens once in awhile Don't use the RDS that came with it, used my own Cheapo China BSA Red do which works perfectely. Aside from that this is my primary even in outdoor games Another problem is Echo1/ACM P90 Magazines fit perfectely but the retention is weak and you would have to manually move lock the magazine in by pulling out the magazine catch. Not hard to do and a habit that I come to do for all mags to make sure they are retained |
Game Review
Apr 25th 2009 - FTF Outdoor Field (Owner = Brian McIlymoyle (TTAC3)) Body is all aching sore but my arms are fine. The P90 was lightweight and great to carry around and maneuver. Although I was outranged by the longer M14, M4s and FAL's. The thick branches and leaves everywhere provided a lot of cover for me to run around crazy like I usually do. And the only way to peg people is getting in close if I had to estimate I would say within 70 feet was a sure shot kill. I always had the feeling of being out ranged as my shots continuously curved on 0.20g then I switched to .28g and it curved less but the AEG's with 363mm and longer can peg me no problem past 70 feet. If theres one thing I would change would be to put on a longer inner barrel if I were going outdoors or just keep this as a CQB gun |
Cheaper Magazine Review
Airsoft Global P90 130 round Magazine Review http://airsoftglobal.com/index.php?c...2ee34aabe1fa1c Its sold out now but save the hassle and do not get these, they have problems I though the 130 round would be great since it will be double the amount of rounds a TM or other copycat mags would give me. I was definitely mistaken. It appears to have some double stacking inside which I believe is where all the problems stem from. And guess what it cannot even fill up to 130 rounds at most it can fill up to 50-70 rounds. 2/4 mags I bought work perfectly while the other 2 you have to tap on them or poke at the BBs inside to make it cycle. Now I will still give them one good point is that the ones that do feed, feed great, shoot great and work like TM magazine for half the price. But if anything I would say save the money and just go for the TM magazine or copycats that are 68 rounds as anything more will probably have the same problems as mine JG/ACM/Echo1 P90 Magazine - 68 Round It appears that these mags do not fit on the CA P90 Properly (This is the CA P90 only not talking about other P90 Models). The 130 rounders fit in fine with a little force while these fit in and feed but can pop right out if you jingle it around. The problem lies within the CA P90's magazine holder latch. I have to manual push the latch to latch onto the mag to hold it into place rather than it just automatically moving into place once the P90 mag is placed in. Albeit it feeds 100% better than the 130 rounders the fitment will need some modification Other than that it feeds perfectly and all BBs freely within the Mag into the gun JG/ACM/Echo1 68rnd Update - Apr 25th 2009 Noticed that some of the mags now pop out BBs if I try to aggresively put the mag in the P90 not too sure if others have that problem but I am guessing the retention spring is not that strong, so probably could be fixed with a tiny spring. I noticed this when I was in a reloading fever while trying to take down an enemy 50 feet away and the BBs were popping out not all the BBs but one or two at a time. |
Interesting, this review is in contrary to almost every other account I've heard about the CA90.
|
My review will change over time
This is the initial review out of the box type |
Fair enough. Maybe you did indeed get a decent one.

Those seams are on the real gun too!!

I know the seams are on the real gun......
I mean they appear to be wider than usual, thats why I said they are not as tight |

And to be honest, most online reviews didn't outright bash the gun. But most online reviews tend to be way overly kind -they wouldn't even call a turd a piece of shit. You kindof have to read between the lines a bit. Basically, the impresison I got from most reviewers is that they liked it simply because "it wasn't as expensive as a TM" and seemed to used that to justify the shitty piston (think original CA), sub-par gears, non-reinforced mechbox, nylon bushings, and some other mechbox and quality shortfallings. From what I've read I've gotten the impression that the CA90 is actually the lowest quality of the entire sportline series. But anyway, I'll not fill up your review with my own opinion based solely on other reviews. You actually have your hands on the gun after all :p |
Oh yeah I forgot about the Nylon Bushings and red dot time to edit away
The problems have yet to occur but I am always prone to mass edits. I better go do an accuracy test sometime as now I am sweating after reading from that guy's review on how the BBs don't seem to shoot out properly. The Hicap Mag is garbage after winding it more and more it seems to only shoot 10-30 shots. 30 Shots if I am lucky |
Ran into feeding issues. Filled the mag 70%-80%, wined it, and nothing. Would tap it a few times, empty out some more, wined it again, really smack the mag in. Its a little fussy. Will try low cap mags when I get back. The RDS is complete crap, it bleeds bad.
|
Okay I just added my review of the
AG 130 round P90 magazines, scroll upwards to see Overall I would say do not get them You can also find ones called Silverback that holds 150 rounds I would advise don't get them either, its a reason why they are so cheap and half the price of TM magazines Yes they are importable but don't bother with those 130+ round P90 magazines as I would say go for the TM or other copycat magazines that are no more than 68 rounds as anything for than 68 would mean that it would have to have double stack in the magazine and that just creates more problems |
Thanks for the review on the magazines. I was actually considering buying these.
|
Yeah I had a feeling people were tempted to get the bigger capacity magazines so I took a dip and well 4 mags came in 3 days thanks to AG fast shipping
2 Mags work perfectly and the other 2 are wonky but still cycle you just have to lightly beat it like a caveman with a club on the table to get some of the BBs to unjam. They still shoot fine you just have to unjam it first |
Hmm. Considering the JG mags are available for cheap in country and have no issues I think I'll just stick with them.
|
Echo 1 mags are readily available and reasonably cheap. They feed every bit as reliably as my TM mags. And they look good too with the fake rounds. TM mags only look marginally better than the E1. So E1 for the win on mags hands down.
|
Guinea Pig once again to test the ACM/Echo 1 P90 mags on a CA P90 (Not talking about other P90 Modes solely the CA P90)
ACM/Echo1 P90 Magazine - 68 Round I know these magazines are practically 1/4 the price of TM P90 Magazine but I must be thorough in my testing. Build Quality of the Magazine - 2.5/5 It appears that there seems to be some extra space within the magazine perhaps a fraction of a cm or just by mere mm of space in the magazine as I can squeeze the magazine and feel the exterior depress and it is not super rigid like a Tokyo Marui magazine. Therefor I surmise I cannot put these magazine under heavy weight as the feel of it looks like it can snap. Even the Cheapy 130 rounders have a very hard exterior in which you cannot squeeze and feel any movement under your clenched grip I placed these in my chest rig and went prone and heard the magazine squising in agony so I felt I cannot just plop down in prone position with these mags in my chest. The Cheapo 130 rounders did not seem to make a sound as the body was solid Conclusion: I highly suggest you use these magazines with any belt pouches for P90 magazines as I surmise that if you place this in your chest rig and you are a person who likes to go prone real fast expect these to wear down and break through constant pressure. With belt pouches you can ensure that when you go prone you won't squash them. Around the side of the thigh areas is perfect for quick speed and mobility Performance and Fitment = 4/5 It appears that these mags do not fit on the CA P90 Properly (This is the CA P90 only not talking about other P90 Models). Albeit it feeds 100% better than the 130 rounders the fitment will need some modification Conclusion: Other than that it feeds perfectly and all BBs move freely within the Mag into the gun. Though you will need some modding to the magazine in order for the CA P90 Magazine latch to properly latch onto the magazine Final Conclusion These Mags shoot great, feed great and exhibit no signs of malfunction like my cheapo 130 rounders. The build quality you have to be careful with its not clumsy proof, I threw it up in the air and let it drop from 8 feet onto hardwood floor and it held up so its not that bad. If you are getting these for the Echo1 P90 they are great, if you are getting these for the CA P90 be prepared to mod the Magazine latch area. Where I got it from >>> Styrak's Sasksoft Armoury Whats the Price: Go to his retailer thread to check it out |
I agree with this. I think the issue is Echo1 uses the same external casing for their standard mags as they do for the highcap. I unscrewed and retightened all of the screws in mine and it seemed to help a bit with the creekyness and flexing.
|
Good idea, one thing I suggest don't open the 130 rounders for anyone whoever got them, once you open it up you cannot close it unless you super glue it as the screws are crap. While the Echo1 Screws are fine and no worries there
I always cringe when I do my mag test with the plastic mags throwing them in the air about 3 feet above me dropping a good 8 feet downwards. But these mags held up so I guess the only thing I have to worry about is falling on them in the forest Also I hope my reviews are very helpful Constructive comments on what to fix or what to add to the titles is very much appreciated! I like doing reviews for the sole purpose because I always look for reviews and find it frustrating that sometimes you just cannot find anything on it |
Just to add a bit to the Echo 1 mags - I've dropped them, stepped on them, etc and they've never broken. I suspect any fitment issues to be more due to the CA P90 than the mags. I used my mags with my E1 and a TM, and they fit just as easily and smoothly in each.
Considering the price of the E1 mags is considerably lower than TM mags, look great (although TM look better), and perform just as well, they're a winner in my book. I'll never waste my cash on TM P90 mags as long as these are available. |
Yeah the ACM/Echo 1 68 rounder P90 magazine are literally 1/4 of the price of a TM magazine which because of the price I will be getting these from now on. The body is not perfect but its not terrible.
Also I added more to my review today Apr 23rd - Performance Test I just found out if I ever want to increase the ROF I will need a new Gearbox or fix the internals which I have heard probably will not alleviate this problem. As I read in other review it appears out of the box that the nozzle has some problems either always sticking inwards or outwards. Mine sticks Outwards on Full auto which is a big problem. So that leaves a bitter taste as I remember when I had my TM P90 and tried it with a Lipo is cycled well AND Echo1 can also take Lipos and feed properly too. Also upon further inspection the hop-up is not that strong at all. When you turn it you either have to turn it all the way up to actually see a difference if you turn it up a little there is no hop. With the TM P90 I notice only minimal movement of the hop up will suffice while the CA P90 needs a lot of adjustment. And I have not even plinked that much to wear it down either! In conclusion CA P90 if you want a good upgrade platform Echo1 or TM P90 may be better. Don't get me wrong the CA P90 is fine the way it is but if you want crazy ROF then you may have to fix up that loading nozzle or look elsewhere. |

You could either throw on a silencer and use a longer inner barrel, or you could go with Madbull's new P90 extended barrel, same as the civilian version of the P90. The Madbull option depends on how different the CA is versus the Echo 1 (what the MB has been designed for). With either option a 363mm M4 inner should do the trick.

guys u can get the KS P90 mags which are clones of the TM ones (and good ones at that) from ehobby - ok its a lottery getting them in but i got 2 shipments of 4 mags in without even being checked out by customs ...go figure lol
|
Quote:
I'd rather spend the $28 on the JG ones from a retailer here in Canada that already has them. |
One thing should be noted, nothing can really get past Ontario Customs even a mechbox with a trigger is seized for a bit, inspected by the new guys then past to the vets and then the vets clear it for you as they know that its not a "lower receiver"
As for the KS mags I believe they are the same as the JG mags which are pretty much the Echo1 mags which may be the same as ACM. When Made in China you get confused which originated from where and who. But yeah I know what you mean CJay they are cheap. But getting them from Styrak Armouries is still pretty cheap considering USD conversion and HK shipping, though best to check it out for his stock Quote:
JG/Echo1 68rnd Update - Apr 25th 2009 Noticed that some of the mags now pop out BBs if I try to aggresively put the mag in the P90 not too sure if others have that problem but I am guessing the retention spring is not that strong, so probably could be fixed with a tiny spring. well pretty much the worst that will happen is u lose 55 bucks for s shipment of 3 mags - like u say its ur own choice and if u get caught - bummer lol. all im saying is if they get through - way better value - note that i had no idea p90 mags were restricted because of the bullet fakes at this point so i was totally wandering why people paid 30 bucks plus shipping for each mag but like i said now i know its a lottery so i an't bought any more :P

That's assuming u get it sent to an address u can't change. Just out of habit I get it sent to local rented post boxes for trackin an insurance reasons and always have but that's off topic ;P. Look the point is I'm from a country where airsoft is legal so I didn't know. Al I'm saying is now I do an I ain't gonna order again just in case but like I said I got lucky twice so it can be done for way cheaper that way if u wanna risk it. I'm not arguing about how sensible it is LOL. Hell I obviously don't think it is or I'd still be doing it haha.

Ont guys tend to be more stringent on rules and regs cause there is so much that can go wrong.
Aside from that a big not to all who have a CA P90 to definitely replace your hop up rubber as The TM P90 is supposedly to have a very legendary hopup mechanism above the rest and the CA P90 is the clone of that wonderful hop up unit. I took it apart and inspected it and from what I can tell its quite close to the TM P90 hop up unit except the fitment on that piece that holds the wheel in place seems to be a fraction of a mm off. But that I do not think will affect it much ALL CA P90 users CHANGE THAT HOP UP Rubber Why: Its way too hard and it does not give much hop even when placed on maximum while I remember the TM P90 gave a lot of hop up. So I believe changing that hop up rubber can get you closer the the TM P90 one. Final Comments I miss my TM P90 but the CA P90 being worth half and it is not a bad gun thats for sure. A few minor issues but can be fixed. But I would say not the best out of the box gun like the TM P90 would be Source: On why the TM P90 is a legendary hop up unit http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filn...p90_review.htm |

Very true, but it's the quicker backwards action when it engages the tappet plate that allows more reliable feeding at high speed, not the release.
|
Quicker backwards action eh? How would I attain the quicker backwards action would it be greasing?
Aside from that my next upgrade would be to add on a softer hop up rubber and put on a tightbore P90 barrel as I read that the TM P90 can hit accurately at 45m (147 feet) now if this CA P90 is somewhat of a good clone hopefully I can reach that range without having to use a longer barrel. This gun shoots at 330 FPS +2 and thats good enough for me, I don't think I will be upgrading the spring, even outdoors I can still peg people with that using 0.28g's |

Anyone having feeding issues with the hi cap mag that came with the gun? I haven't read through the whole thread, I don't want to use up whats left on my internet minutes just yet, still got a couple more days for vacation. Before leaving, I did some plinking with it at a friend's house and found it wouldn't fire numerous times even after whining the mag filled half way.
|
P90 hicaps are known to be crap.
|
Agreed. P90 hicaps are known to be terrible. Stick to low caps :D

If you have money go for the
TM P90 mags - Works 100% perfect with great fitment or Echo1/ACM P90 Clone Mags - Works 100% as well but may exhibit a few problems The only difference is that the retention spring for holding the BBs in the Echo1/ACM mags tend to be a bit weaker and BBs and can pop out if agitated, 3/4 mags I bought had this problem. Also these clone mags don't feel as robust a body as the TM ones but still work well in Outdoor engagements, I always go prone squishing them and they still work. Possible solution for it I would say put in a little spacer or a stronger pint size spring if you can find one. I am unsure if it will work but just an idea on where to start. |
I intend to but I was firing it basically out of the box. I haven't accessorize or upgrade yet but I've bookmarked this page. Will look more indepth when I get back.
|
Thanks for the bookmark glad to have some readers in my review thread
You are a CA P90 as well? Hopefully you got the Triple rail version and not the Red dot sight version. As the red dot sight version is not adjustable by normal means, you would have to open it up and somehow tweak it since it has no nubs for adjustment like other red dot sights would have |
Sorry to say, its the RDS version. I wanted the TR but couldn't get my hands on one so I ended up settling. I was going for the Stargate look and they used the P90RDS on the show anyhow so its no biggy for me. My biggest beef with the build in RDS is how much it bleeds.
|
Is there anywhere to get stock TM red-dot units that you can drop into the P90?
|
Stock TM P90 RDS receivers are also not adjustable.
|
I figured I'd buy up some P90 mags from Redwolf, I had a small order from them figuring I'd might as well add some and ask to have them remove the dummy rounds but they just responded today that they can't/won't.
|
The dummy rounds are actually needed to hold the BBs in place

Excellent, I purposely bought the P90 to use at TTAC3 but they only do real cap mags, will need a few on hand.
