Naming transparent-receivered airsoft guns
I think it'd be nice if we can brainstorm a couple names for these new airsoft guns with transparent receivers, something that clearly and concisely describe what they are. After all, clearsoft is a rather derogatory term here on ASC and does not fit with the fact that only a small (albeit significant) portion of the gun is clear.
I would suggest that ideally, the name should be suffixed with -soft. That seems to be the trend. Conversely, we could just call them airsoft guns and recognize them as equal to completely "black" guns. But I doubt everyone agrees with that sentiment and this really boils down to a popularity contest. I mean this to be a serious discussion. If your best suggestion is "crapsoft" or the likes, please conserve your wit for the Trash. |
maybe post some pics so we can see what were are working with here.

What about clearsoft. It is what it is.
If there is a stigma regarding that name, remove the stigma. Renaming a horse turd a road apple didn't work either. Everyone still knows what it is. |

Cleansoft gets my vote.
Or Clearsoft lol. |
+1 for Cansoft
|
The question would be, where does "clearsoft" end and "cansoft/bordersoft/whateversoft" begin? I hate to be negative, but it is clearsoft.
|
Can't we just name it 'legalsoft' it explains everything lol

+1 Cansoft

Then wouldn't we just name it "crapsoft" and "clearsoft"? That is universally what it's been called since I've been here.
when the product becomes g&g and other such brands :P[/QUOTE] |
What happens when it if Jing-Gong, or Huang-no-name-brand? Will it be in the same league as G&G then?
What if someone made clear receivers for PTW? Would they be exempt from a clearsoft name? It is what it is. If it's clear, it's clear. Move on. |
+1 Clearsoft, with a shout-out to Cheapsoft.
|
IMO, this should be a Poll. Cleansoft seems like an interesting compromise....but Clearsoft is such a familiar word already.
|
Obviously I can't buy one of these yet but I thought I'd share my vote since these could be the future once I come of age.
+1 to Cansoft because it's mthafrkn Canadian! No matter what the name is, they are still clearsoft. However (I know this has already been established), everyone should keep in mind that Clearsoft/Cansoft and Crapsoft/Cheapsoft are completely different things when referring to clear bodied or partially clear bodied airsoft replicas (Thus the stigma of these weapons should be cleared [no pun intended there, really] from existence). Personally Cleansoft sounds rather lame, but that's just my opinion. I couldn't imagine saying "Hey, check out my G&G L85A1 Cleansoft gun". Although you probably wouldn't refer to it as Cleansoft while displaying it to someone anyway. |
Cansoft sound right to me, because, as far as I know, no other country require such stupid modification for a toy to be legal.
|
I like Cansoft.
|
I retract my vote for Bordersoft and reinforce my vote for Cansoft.

I like Cansoft.
I don't think the Cansoft that will be sold will be in the same league as Clearsoft for the fact that A. It isn't a Canadian Tire/Walmart special B. It doesn't fire .12 gram bb's C. This is a throw out but the performance will hopefully be far superior to our Crap/Clearsoft counter parts. D. Little Johnny will hopefully have a tougher time getting a hold of these ones. On a side note we might have another Comic idea. Cansoft :D |
In the end, I'll still be calling it clearsoft.
Cansoft is a stupid name. If it was made of recycled cans, I may call it cansoft if I'm in a good mood. |
I prefer Beaversoft, but that sound kinky...

The line coule be drawn where it's upgradability is in question. Whether or not it can take available aftermarket parts as opposed to the walmart stuff that wouldn't stand a chance in hell of being "fixed". Just my humble opinion. Upgradable = Cansoft (or whatever the final name would be) Non-upgradable = Clearsoft. |
Poll is here: http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=69449
I would like to think this will become the new standard of what to call them. |

also the way i see it is TM lowers are plastic, so are these, as long as the INTERNALS are solid. black or clear, is the plastic is the same? then it should hold up the same. sides when someone buys one of these how long do you think its going to stay clear. i dont know because iv never timed how longs it takes me to spraybomb my guns |
Bastardsoft.
Its not an airsoft gun, its not a clearsoft gun. Its the bastard child of them both with the airsoft guns genes being primarily physical and only a little bit of the clearsofts genes making the reciever partially clear. However until we get a full review of one of these new bastardsoft guns I cannot pass a judgement on the internals. Even though retailers claim TM compatability for all we know the bastardsoft gun may have ended up with its whore mothers internals. |
