WE 1911 Classic

Hey guys I need some advice about the WE 1911 Classic that I plan to buy http://http://www.airsoftcanada.com/...ad.php?t=55365 I have read some reviews about the gun, but I made this thread to get some feedback from people that have maybe owned or used this gun. Please give me as much , information as possible, the good the bad, personal experiences, etc etc. I am at a dillema about this gun because the review I have read and people I have talked to tell me a 50/50 story, half love their WE's and half say stay away, so i dont know what to do, need advice. Thx

It's a decent gun. But the slide catches on WE's are not very good. I've had 2 different WE 5.1's and a WE 1911 Classic, and all of them didn't catch when the mag was empty or had intermittent problems with it. Other than that, they're not bad.

KEVORKIAN April 14th, 2008 20:28

Hey Styrak, you mean the "slide catch"...

Roughneck April 14th, 2008 20:49

Mine will be here in a couple days, from what I understand they use more gas than an SUV haha. Theres enough gas in there to empty the mag once.. and sometimes not enough gas left to bring the slide back enough to lock it after the last round. Just what I've read, will confirm in a few days

Bah, you know what I meant.

Edited.

Is there a way to fix the slidelock problem. and about gas, the WE mag holds 15 rounds right, so why not put 14 or 13 in there and it will empty the whole mag and hopefully lock the slide?

Oh I forgot Is this gun compatible with Tm or other 1911 makes?

The Saint April 14th, 2008 21:06

WE1911 is largely non-compatible with TM or any other 1911 makes. There are the odd internals from TM that'd fit, like gas valve, loading nozzles, inner barrel, etc, that's about it.

I had a WE 1911 Tactial version (The same thing I think except with black grips) and it was an absolute piece of crap. I think I just got a lemon, but i'd still say...beware...

Trapper1 April 15th, 2008 15:38

Some guys love em, others Hate em. My first GBB was the gun WE 1911 Classic (I take it you are looking at a full metal version) DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. They look great and feel nice in the hand, make a cool addition to your gun collection but thats about it. I could only fire 5 rounds tops, and at inconsitent velocitys before i ran out of gas and or it stopped workin altogether. I got pissed off with it and sold it for 50 bucks a couple weeks ago. Good luck if you buy one tho i guess

acorn_giblet April 15th, 2008 15:51

I got my WE 1911 tactical ( same as what you're buying but with a railed frame and different sights ) about 2 months ago and I absolutely love the thing...
I would say I've already put over 1000 rounds through it and haven's had any problems.
When running the gun on propane with the mags that came with the gun I get about 30 shots before I'm out of gas, with aftermarket WE mags I get a bit less and they don't seem to fire as hard. I'm not sure why that is but they are still acceptable.

The feel of the gun is second-to-none... The one niggle I have about it is that after inserting a loaded mag pulling back the slide doesn't release the slide catch. This is because the cut-out on the slide is slightly too large... it doesn't really matter though as you would tend to just release the slide catch most of the time anyway.

Personally I give the gun a 9 / 10. It's accurate, heavy, well-made and very, very close to the real-steel.
Highly recommended from my experience.

Roughneck April 15th, 2008 16:11

So glad to hear someone have something positive to say. Mine should be here in a day or two and I was a little worried about it being useless. It's never going to be a primary.. just something for those close encounters.

acorn_giblet April 15th, 2008 16:13

I would never hesitate to use mine even as my primary ( I have done just that in 3 games so far... ) you just need to have a bunch of mags... I've got 4 at the moment and that seems to be enough.

I would recommend using .25g BBs as well as they tend to be more accurate in this gun...

Roughneck April 15th, 2008 16:21

Thanks for the heads up. Any reviews I've read/seen say you'll need to refill with gas everytime you empty the mag.. not the case in your experience?

The Saint April 15th, 2008 16:25

It's a single-stack mag, the thin profile means that gas capacity is limited. It never hurts to top up after a mag worth of BBs.

spl01t77 April 15th, 2008 17:52

well Spencer played around with my we1911 and I gotta tell ya I like it, weight/recoil and action are all very nice. I'm still partial to the USP but the we1911 will be next to me at each game ;)

Alexei April 15th, 2008 18:05

Thanks guys, keep em comming.

bloodofkin April 16th, 2008 18:41

I've had the we 1911 classic for a couple months now and have been skirmishing indoors with it. I'd have to say it's definitely not the best GBB out there. My KJW M9 performs much better than it for sure. However, for the price you definitely can't go wrong (as long as you don't get a lemon) as it's full metal and just feels plain nice.

I had to file the nub that touches the slide catch down a bit to make it catch but other than that no major problems (as per suggested by the saint).

After using it for the whole night one time though the 1911 was ridiculously cold and it stopped working consistently. That's the only warning I'd give - don't use it exclusively as your main weapon (about 4 hours worth)

Roughneck April 16th, 2008 18:56

Recieved my 1911 classic today, plinked with it for a bit after work. Has a little rattle like any all metal pistol. The gas isnt a big issue, seems to fire about 30 shots per charge of gas and still pops the slide open upon empting the mag. The mags get cold pretty quick, could see that being a problem if used as a primary like bloodofkin stated. Makes a nice sound and a nice kick, so far.. Im thrilled with it.

Dougie yopu bastard i cant wait to get mine to go with my liek other 3 pistols

Jayne Finch April 16th, 2008 19:05

they seem to be getting the quality up on the new we 1911's. theres one in my basement now. i think i showed it to you at flagraiders actually. it works flawlessly other than it doesnt like the cold (no gbb does) like we discussed its like buying a truck. some people like fords (yeah i cant figure that one out either) and some people like chevy. buy it. if you dont like it. sell it.

Alexei April 16th, 2008 19:12

How is the accuracy on it?

Roughneck April 16th, 2008 19:17

Only shooting from about 10 feet, small apartment.. but could shoot the wings off a fly with it. I've discovered that trying to empty the two mags as fast as possible will drain the gas very quickly. Timed, well aimed shots give you lots of gas.

Kookamater April 16th, 2008 20:56

It's a great lil handgun. The mags are the only issue I see, as both of mine have broken parts now and I need to get new ones.

I love my WE 1911. Great range and accuracy, not to mention that powerful kick.
