I guarantee once you hold a PTW, you'll forget about her. No offence, but.. nothing really compare to a PTW in terms of fit/finish/feel.

Which 416 is it? vfc, jg... I'd never let go of the 416 even for a ptw but then again I'd want to get the 417 if it ever comes out... and if you are looking to sell (vfc version only) I'll be first in line wanting to buy...

JG 416s. Nice guns man. I'm quite impressed by mine. I'm comparing the body to my old TM M4 plastic body, and TM has NOTHING on this in terms of quality, be it material or cosmetic. I actually much prefer the finish on the JG body over the TM. Looks more realistic if you ask me. I find the TM looked like plastic. You can't tell this is plastic by looking at it. And holding the gun and feeling the weight (granted, it's the heavy RIS), you'd think you've got an all-metal gun in hand.

Bad picture, but this is what mine looks like now. I also have a front grip installed now and a cheapo PEQ box flashlight (for temporary cosmetic purposes only) that came with an old RIS M4 springer I had for a few years as a wall piece.

Mine shoots about 430 fps stock, so no, it can't be fielded stock in Canada. A spring downgrade is definitely required. Metal bushings and a shim job would probably be recommended too, but if you put in a 340 fps spring or less, you may be able to get away with the plastic bushings. and stock shim job. But for the price of the shims snf bushings, if you already have the mechbox open, you might as well swap 'em out and shim it.

I know I'd have no qualms about fielding my totally stock JG MP5 shooting at 340-ish fps.

Nice pics. I noticed your front RIS sits a hair above the upper receiver RIS. Mine too. Is this common, and does it affect scope mounting? I have an ACOG coming, nice to see it applied.

I love my JG. I have no problems playin at 340-350 either.

The rail covers look sweet. They're the only other one's I've seen that I like. I got Madbull Bamboo's on mine. I love 'em. I can grate cheese with my RIS.

Well a hair's just a hair, and I found there was no issue in mounting what so ever. What are you mounting anyway? Thats pretty far down to by mounting anything.

I'm mounting an ACOG. For the rest of Indoor season, I'm wearing a full mask, so I figured I'd move the scope up a bit.

Our limits in Saskatchewan are 425 for AEG's and 475 for snipers. What limits do you have?

The limit in Ontario, and most of eastern Canada (to the best of my knowledge) is 400 for an AEG. I guess I wrongfully assumed it was the same everywhere.

The 416 looks so much better with a long barrel, and that thing fully mounted up with rail covers and the acog is very nice. Ide personally throw a vertical grip on to though.

Pick up a Real Sword Type 56 and you may just change your mind. It's not an Armalite and doesn't have the fancy internals of a PTW, but in terms of AK variants, nothing else in the world of airsoft comes close. Without actually using any of its functions, you wouldn't be able to tell which was which compared to the real steel.

Yeah, for sure. They are totally different guns. But just saying that in terms of fit, feel, and finish, the RS is a real Type 56 for all intents and purposes. You can't beat that for realism and feeling like the real thing. ;)

But yeah, a PTW is on my wish list. I have the ultimate airsoft AK. I might as well have the ultimate Armalite to go along with it. :)

uh... aftermarket not from TM, I forget where I got them from exactly, originally they were for my G36, Ebaybanned has some but they're aluminum with some stamped on trades. I had one before but the steel one surpasses that one in terms of quality and looks.

Indeed. I neglected to point out which was which. BTW, the other picture turned out like crap. This one is sort of grainy too, but passable. I checked the camera lens and noticed it had a smear of somekind on it that was actually hard to remove. I lent it to a friend yesterday and he must have gotten the gunk on the lens.

Cool Was wondering. I like the look of your long barrel. I'm going to have a leftover TM M4 inner and outer barrel shortly. I'm already considering installing a fixed stock on it. I think with the fixed stock,the longer barrel would look better. And of course, there's the benefit of better accuracy from the longer barrel. I don't see myself playing indoor games anytime soon, and I have an MP5 if I do.

I wish I hadn't sold my rear sight right after I bought a fixed 416 front sight, lol now I have 2 fronts and zero rear.

Kos I've held a System PTW and it in noway change my mind about my VFC HK416. VFC materials and built quality are second to none IMO. I will be getting the Systema Revolution box though.

I've never seen a real 552, so can't say for sure, but it works great so far. Seems solid and works well. In low light, there is a bit of ghosting, but the 2 phantom reticles are really faint, so not really an issue. They're not bright enough to distract. In bright light, I don't notice them at all.

Can you adjust the brightness? In no light condtions I can turn mine all the way down...no shadows.

Yes, it's adjustable. I believe it has like 10 brightness levels. I'm sure I could lower the intensity and have the ghost reticles become almost invisible if I had to. I like the sight. It sees to work for what I need it to.

Well, I've done a lot of thinking, and I've decided that my 416 is going to get an outer barrel extender plus a new M4-length inner barrel, and a fixed M16 stock. I have a spare CA stock, and will be installing it. After seeing a bunch of 416 pics with both types of stock, I think it looks better. Plus I'll be able to have a large 9.6V battery in the stock as well. I connected my 9.6V 2000 mAh nunchuck battery to test out, and rof is pretty crazy. I love it.

I'm going to paint the 416 stock OD and install it on my C8A2 instead. Yeah, it may not look completely accurate for a C8, but I like the look and feel of it better than the standard collapsible stock.

And as a future project, I have all the parts short of a mechbox to rebuild my TM M4A1 and will probably put it up for sale once it's complete.

Actually, mine has 20 brightness settings too. I haven't really experimented with it much.

I'll be switching my stock to a fixed one shortly. I ordered the 6" barrel extender from ebaybanned and will be installing both, along with a new inner barrel, as soon as I get it. That's gonna look sweet.

What length inner barrel are you going to use?
i have a spare m16 length inner (509mm i believe) barrel lying around but i don't know what type of extender i would need for it

You could use that barrel extension then put a silencer ontop of it.

The barrel extender should give the outer barrel the same length as a standard M4 barrel (not sure of exact length offhand). I happen to have both TM and CA M4 inner barrels as spares, so I'll be using one of those with it.

I don't know how much longer they make barrel extensions though. The only one I've been able to find is that 6" one on ebaybanned.

Another option would be to get a longer barrel and new 416 front sight ($20 or so on ebaybanned.com). Add what with a new inner barrel, and you could actually interchange them as required.

I installed the full stock on my 416 and I like it better that way. Looks far too stubby with the short barrel, so I'm anxiously awaiting my barrel extender. I'll take some pics once I get everything together.

Yep! Nice AEG! But i'm not a fan of full stock...

I tend to like both types of stocks, actually, depending on the gun. I'm really going more for cosmetics with the stock than functionality in this case, although being able to load in a large 9.6V battery will be a big bonus too.

I see myself using my C8 more in the field, so I want that big stock from the 416 on that instead. I love its shape and size over the Marui stock. I may eventually just get a crane stock for the C8 and return the 416 stock to its rightful gun too.

Full stock sure does put a diff spin on the 416, and I kinda like it but I can't see myself doing it to mine. Crunchmeister you've opened my eyes to more possibilities with the 416... Keep it up ;)

I just got myself a huricane crane stock for my 416, it fits a 9.6 with large cells. I got a 3200 mah but plan on getting a 4200 mah later.


I hate the looks of 416 with full stocks, those cranes look sexy on them and they look like shit on everything else.

I think so too. The short barrel just makes it look a little too stubby for the fixed stock. The extended barrel will fix that right up.

I think that's gonna look awesome too. It's gonna be nice to see some 416s with different configurations than the standard crane stock and 10" barrel. All you need are some rail covers and maybe a front grip and you'll be all set. And have fun removing and installing that gas block again. :D

That would be nice. I'm not ruling out the 416 metal body kit down the road if I can get someone (possibly shootsoft) to bring it in for me. Won't be for a while yet though.

I received my barrel extension from ebaybanned. 4.5 inches. It gives a really nice look! D145RS POWAAA!
