Bash together an AEG?
I'm wondering is it possible to get the parts of an aeg separately and then put it together?
|
Sure. But you'd need to be 18+ for that, and have a lot of patience.
Why not just get age verified and buy something intact? |
If by "get" you mean order from outside of Canada then no you can't.
You'll end up with most of the parts getting stopped at customs. |
I've thought about getting an aeg within canada. i know it's kinda hard to get one or have to wait for a while to actually receiving it, so i thought maybe bashing up an aeg would be faster than getting an intact one. do i have to get age verified in order to buy an aeg?
|
Yes, you do.
|
Bashing one together is far more involving (financially, effort, etc) than just buying a complete gun, not to mention that you can't buy all the parts needed unless you're age verified. So you might as well get verified and buy a complete gun.
|
can i still buy a gun without getting age verified? anyone have any ideas of where to buy an aeg in vancouver?
|
Just get age verified dude.

Purchases in Vancouver? Over the counter? I have no idea. Purchases from the Canadian Retailers' list is a better way. Going to see the guns in person at a game (and likely getting age-verified at once) is a better way to pick something. |
i agree 100% with greylocks, this is one case where buying parts seperatley will actually be MORE expensive.
|
AND............ one might run into compatibility issues between a few parts (if chosen without the help of someone in the know), resulting in either damage or poor performance.

You seem hesitant, is there a problem about you getting age-verified? It's not hard to do, unless you are not being straightforward about your age?
If you are hiding something, it's really not a good start... |
What kind of parts cannot be ordered from overseas/across the boarder?
I lol'd @ the thread title, bash together an AEG...I thought this was going to be about the durability of AEG's and if you can break them by bashing them together :D |

The top gun was built out of the spare parts of the lower gun (lower gun mainly pieces from Redwolf "heck, it has changed multiple times since photo"), all missing pieces for top gun found on ASC. Moral of the story, it would have been cheaper to just buy a SystemA PTW kit... I would have had just as much fun putting a gun together and a PTW would have been twice as nice... -Daes |

ya i did the same as you daes lol. i started with a m203 heatshield (always, ALWAYS wanted an m16/203) which i had for nearly a year. then i got a full stock, then i got a new metal body for my m4, so i used that old body for my 16. then i got systema m120 mechbox and motor, took the m203 off my xm8 and voila. had my dream gun lol. ill have to take a pic and post it.

DIY guns, or kit-guns are the best. Personally, there's no way to get closer to a gun, than to see it grow up , and become your dream gun... *tear*...

Still if you compare THAT to the cost of buying a "platform gun" ie. a TM M4 only to buy basically enough new parts to almost have TWO guns at the end of it. Building your own can be great if you know exactly what you plan to have at the end result. Otherwise, you're just changing part after part after part and running the bill up for no reason. If you don't have a hard set game plan, then just get a ready to go out of the box gun. If you don't have any experience at all with gun docin' then go with the out of the box gun. If you don't have anyone around willing to help you learn how to mod the gun, then stay the heck away from building your own. Also, you can run into problems with the same product in different ways. Case in point, I installed a metal body onto an M733, at every turn I had trouble with this one. However, the same brand/version of the body gave me no problem installing on another gun. Just with the one I ran into trouble with alignement and fittin for some odd reason. And then there are hop ups, have you tried assembling these? Garenteed first time around you're going to fuck it up. And then have to try again, and this time you have someone there, that kindly decides to strategically start hiding things! (You know who you are!) Buy the ready built gun, and forget about trying to smuggle them in. Unless you plan to get a speed boat and smuggle the M16 up your butt to get in, cause there are very few legal channels left for airsoft to be imported. |

I've realized that there really isn't much savings to be had from building a parts gun, you loose a lot on paying shipping for the pieces from everywhere. Thankfully I've gotten some amazing deals, so I should still come out on top, but barely. (and that's all stock TM parts too) |
