C4 Gasmask
I got myself a real issue Canadian C4 Gasmask for a full face mask and protection when playing CQB Games. i have a filter and i have a bag and decontamination powder (realism) but i can't figure out how the drink tube works. i looked for operation instructions but couldn't find any, a freind of mine said they just taught him how to use it and now that he converted to the navy over 25 years ago he also for gets how to use it. The tube seems to be blocked off but it's almost as if the tube ending could be pulled open and exposed. Picture to follow (20mins)

sorry for the bad quality pictures, they were taken with a cell phone. I don't have a nice digital camera(with batteries!) like you rich folk.

Plug that shit into the lid of the issued canteen, end of story,, no, you aint gonna be using it on waterbottles, gatorade, kool aid or purple/orange drank. Bottles of beer and other alcohol is out of the question as is rum and coke mixes sadly. Issued canteen, thats it.

I admit to nothing by the way, you can't prove some of the canteens on SQ that got Moldy (mine included) got that way from misuse! :P |
Buddy of mine had beer in his hydrapack and forgot about it for 3 weeks.... yep.... yeast infection
|
example of the NBC canteen cap:
https://store.nexternal.com/armynavy...nteen-Cap1.gif Plug your straw in it, hold the canteen upside down at about eye level and start sucking on the straw... Boy, I wonder how long you'll last wearing it while playing CQB for a whole day... these things are torture devices when you're running around mad... Have fun! |

i didn't realize it had to be at eye level but it still seems really difficult to drink from it, Btw i was using an issued canteen
|
get a collapsible canteen, you'll be able to squeeze it and and force more water down the straw...

Did anybody else find MOPP4 to be the most sleep-inducing state of readiness?
This reminds me, I should probably make sure my mask is still clean. |

Why don't you just take the mask off to drink?
oh wait.... :D |

Sorry to reopen this thread, but it looked like a good place to ask
a question about the same mask in the OP.I don't need instructions on how to use it,but rather where to get parts such as canister plugs, canisters(if possible) and new elastic webbing for securing mask to head. Also a de con mitt? Thanks in advance:cool: |
Quote:
Elastic webbing, I don't think we replace it, as far as I know, it's one of those items we destroy and just replace due to the nature of it's intended usage |
I know what you mean about plugs,if you have them and still in
the service hang on to them.I was issued a gasmask without plugs on an in the training with gas,I crawled through a wet spot to avoid being shot and the alarm sounded,I donned my mask to only blow out water find the canister plugged from water.Me dead:rolleyes: As for the elastic webbing,it looks like a simple replacement part.;) The mask itself appears in good shape along with the cannister that smells a little like cs gas.:D |

My cannister is, luckily, brand new still in bag. If you're "in" and this is an issued mask we're talking about, bring it up with your chain of command/section commander, if your kit/shit is broken and you can't go try exchange it, bring it up with your section commander P.S. If you're Civvi, just be happy you got your hands on one :P |
Just a civvi now,but I know how this gear is suppose to work,
and would like rebuild my original issue kit to marching order status for light infantry. To me it is a big deal if kit works or doesn't.;) |

You can sometimes find things in places you wouldn't
think to look, time to dig through my old books and look for one of my fan out sheets,if I still have them? Thanks for the input guyshttp://www.airsoftcanada.com/images/...01_icon_ok.gif |
Hit up your local surplus

You will never know what you will find. |
I just remember another question, with canister removed,I can just
wash this out with warm soapy water, dish soap? How do I clean out the canteen tube? |
Quote:
|
There is no special disinfectants used? We just had a
pail of soapy looking water supplied,so I wasn't sure. I'm not to keen on sucking back soapy water:D I'll find a better method thanks. |
....Get a new mask if there is that many problems with it those things are cheap, and the mask should come with powder to clean it out with i know mine did, i still have it...just incase. also you can buy new filters that fit it here http://www.approvedgasmasks.com/gas-filters.htm

Because i know when a NBC Attack comes my first thought is about saving my dog. LOL |

How reliable is this company??While am not complaining about the price,it seems a bit low for something like a NATO filter type 80 for 38.50 or a cs canister for 40$ to be real. These seam a bit low for something so valuable to life. But I have never bought these or looked at prices to know, just seams a bit low for something so important.;-) |
I would suggest using a garden hose with an adapter to rinse out the drinking tube. Mind you it should not be that dirty if you are only sucking water through it.
|
You would be surprised... I've managed to pass dip-juice through it when I forgot to toss my lip in the field. That sucks balls btw, cleaning liquid tobacco from the inside of the mask and off your face.
