We plan on doing another run of them, but don't have a time frame.

Uh oh....

FWIW, it looks like he's got a generic no-name slip-on.

pugs144 August 18th, 2009 20:26

Seen.

For his sake I hope he doesn't post pics of him wearing the beret. ;)

ex August 18th, 2009 20:33

Personally I have no problem with someone in Russia "portraying" a Cdn soldier in fact I think it's down right awesome. He's not trying to say he's a Patricia so I have no issues with it. It's the long haired dope smoking friend of jesus tree hugger I see downtown slumming it up on the corner with his posse begging for change and cigarettes I want to put my foot through.

pugs144 August 18th, 2009 20:42

An IMO a Beret with capbadge which is garrison wear shouldn't be worn.. an if he's trying to be accurate and do this right than he'd wear field wear in the field, not garrison items.

Ah Kapral and his bunch of idiot fellows...

As for the beret, it could be a collectable item, no one can be sure but hey he's not wearing it in his pic... I know I have Royal Marines and Para beret that I sometimes put into pictures but never on myself.

But I see where you're coming from, it's always better to make sure and educate people rather than having posers all over.

I know the guy personally, putting a Sgt rank tab on is a big demotion for him. I believe he'd outrank most of the CF members present on this forum (but then the guys who're high up in signals probably wouldn't be posting their service records here). Also from what I've seen here most of the guys who are open about their CF/Navy roots are usually not active PPCLI/JTF members but rather are in a less intriguing trades/units; and almost all never saw combat, unlike some "eastern-european airsofters" who are in teams modeling foreign army units.

I understand what you're getting at with your background tho, but I'd be more pissed at the local players wearing PPCLI insignia to the games than overseas ones -- as the latter do not pretend to have ever been members of CF.

Pretorian August 19th, 2009 09:54

Thanks CTAC;)

Thank you for your comments, but I'll disagree with some of your statements.

Regarding the field use, I'd totally agree with your if we were talking about CF contingent in A-stan, as I follow updates on combatcamera, threads on milnet.ca and in general have additional sources of information on kit used by CF in the field. I realize that some CF issue kit does not fit the modern requirements (4 mags in a modern issue vest is laughable in combat). As can be seen from my photos, not a single item is in Arid Cadpat and I'm not going after the impression of the A-stan located servicemen, but rather ones located in Canada.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know, while on training exercises in Canada CF members mostly use CF-issue kit, including Tac Vest, small pack and gloves. Also, what is drastically different among russian airsofters is that non-issue kit is frowned upon if you're modelling a certain unit.

I can link/post many photos of the CF soldiers in both Canada and A-stan wearing an empty bayonet sheath, rank tab on the tac vest, etc. I'm guessing different units might have different levels of regulation enforcement on that. Many (not just CF) soldiers are getting rid of all unnecessary load/kit/insignia in the field or when going into combat, but it's an airsoft and other issues matter here.

In addition, I do not wear the beret to the games, the photos you're referred to are of the Ukranian team and I live in Russia.

As far as PPCLI badge goes, I know that players from other countries wear insignia of many elite Russian special ops units (and Canada is not an exception in that). Trust me, members of those elite russian units are nothing more than ironic about it. After all it's an airsoft, take it easy. :)

Bowers August 21st, 2009 23:17

question for some of the folks that are in the know figured this was the best place to get your attention

is there currently a possibility for deployments overseas other than Afghanistan? the DND website says that there is currently ops in Cyprus and Congo and a bunch of other places but it doesn't give detail as to who can go where

though actually i might have missed that my apologies if that happens to be the case

now that im finally eligble to apply (after a long and tedious clusterfuck of correspondence schools) im hoping to join one of the local reserve infantry units (if that helps any) in the new year and was curious if i will have a wide variety of options for deployment or if everything is focused on Afghanistan right now

just one of those late night questions that came outta nowhere

and sorry if my question is hard to understand im a little burnt out right now from a math exam

thank you to anyone that can help me.

I'm just wondering if somebody CF/Ex-CF can resolve this for me.

In this picture that was posted earlier:

http://a_sti.users.photofile.ru/phot.../110357401.jpg

The rank embroidery is in gold thread, which concurs with what I see here: http://mpmuseum.org/securank2.html

Yet in all my time interacting with army personnel in CADPAT in LFCA, I have never seen gold embroidery. Just black on CADPAT slipons. Was it a trial thing? Was it phased out? Did it never exist, and the site is inaccurate?

Thanks.

Eh? The rank slipon that Pretoria is wearing is olive drab on CADPAT, which is standard for all army pers. If you're seeing black on CADPAT you're just looking at navy pers.

My bad, my memory seems to be failing me on the black and olive. But his slipon just.. stands out more than I remember.

IndiaSixTwo August 24th, 2009 09:50

I think the reason it stands out so much is that it looks new. Once you wash the things they get faded pretty quick.

Mordarski J.A. August 24th, 2009 16:11

With that, the Air Force and Navy opted to wear OD epaulets with service-specific thread - as one Air Force member stated to me, "we are not the army".

OD epaulets with black thread are for Navy personnel, while OD epaulets with blue thread are for Air Force personnel. It's also for that same reason that they wear OD nametapes with their service emblem (anchor for Navy, bird for Air Force) on the right while army personnel wear their crossed swords on the left.

whats the band supposed to be for? if you're trying to copy the look of the C7A1 in the pic above it's a velcro strap that comes with the tac light an PAQ4 kits so you can secure the pressure switch wire to the weapon so its secured to the weapon.

This is the joys is being QM and cleaning out cages from the RQ ;) we had a dozen old tool cages come down, and I guess a couple were from the vault because they were packed with spare parts for .50 cal, C7, C9 and Carl G. All the Carl G and .50 stuff went into our vault, but we had no use for the C7 and C9 bits so they're in my locker to 'make use of'.

And the band is just keeping the grips tight. The Triad pinches them at the front and the bulge on the side...

going to put money that if you every actually use those pockets, you won't like em.
i used em, and didn't.
seem them to the place i got my pouches redone on, and had them turned to the velcro was on the side instead.
way easier, and yes, it's still secure that way.

I usually just use my soft hat itself when I clean weapons.

Adding to the emergency shit ticket items though, sandtraps from your trousers :) buddy of mine did it on our ADATS course when we were in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.
Comes running up to me asking if I had paper cuz our gun box was empty of bog rolls, I told him to use a leaf...we're in a field by the way...and just gives a 'wtf?!' expression and then runs away over a hill. Ten minutes later he I see him walking back with one pant leg unbloused...

Pretty sure it was in this video, I know at 1:39 you see a dude in Cadpat, but right now I'm working off of my tiny netbook and can't really see great details. 2:06 I think is RCMP as well.

2:34 has a dude wearing AR, a MICH 2000 and what I guess is a RAV... JTF2 maybe? I have no idea

2:46 is also a Canadian, but has a uber 1337 ginger beard, so hard to tell who he works for.

Were you doing the same thing I did? Send it to me and I'll get it done for ya if it's not fubar.

Got my BFT on Friday and going to Suffield next month, so I figured I'd repack my ruck...still my favorite piece of kit.

I'm gonna check out grabbing a new mat when I stop at Wheeler's this weekend.

Ace of Spades© October 13th, 2009 22:05

My best bud grabbed one of those jump rucksacks for his CAP this summer. Wore it for a 15km sack march and fooking love it. (Though I am Navy, so will never touch one after I grad and get my commission =D)

The shirt is FUBAR, I gave up on it after like three hours of cursing at my sewing machine this weekend. Gonna use the material for modding a Tan flight suit

Ace of Spades© October 13th, 2009 22:29

lol, well, I enjoy my bulging biceps and rock hard abs (well, not so much the abs, I enjoy beer to much lol)

I'm only staying MARS until a new certain CANSOFCOM unit starts raising from the rest of the CF. Plus I've got it set in my mind that I wanna do boarding party, so gonna keep hitting the gym even tho I am supposed to be gaining a nice beer belly.

Don't hold your breath.
However, if you go go somewhere purple, be sure to recruit five guys for the navy on your way out.

Ace of Spades© October 13th, 2009 23:04

lol, already been pimping the navy for a year now. Gotta raise the numbers so I can slip out unnoticed =)

Knowing how things work for navy officers, I'm not expecting to see CMCR Tan until I'm like a Subby or Lt. and like 28 years old, outta my prime =/

airborneboi69 October 14th, 2009 13:49

all this is is the old style combats like are od one except they are retro fitted with pockets and a rcmp patch is sewn on the top

saw lots of em on my tour with the omlt pomlt use to come on patrol with us quite often , but most of the police were municipal police from toronto

QUOTE=CanuckKwan;1082018]different picture/angle, but that's actually the guy I saw in the picture that gave me the idea. I guess I thought it was a flight suit 'cause I didn't see his shirt bloused over the pants, but civpol usually tuck them in anyways, right?

guess I should keep my eyes out for some decent cheap tan combats. hard to find flightsuits in my size anyways, lol...[/QUOTE]

My rifle;

I had the Elcan in the cab the entire time.

My truck;

RQMS Bin Truck, so it has the cage superstructure under the cover. Very nice and fast, and I think one of the few vehicles to come back without any damage :p

Funny story, I was in that shitter about 30 minutes prior, just hoping that I wasn't going to fall face down with a load on my back...it also fell door down...

Lerch, may I ask exactly what is it you do in the Military? Like your 'job tittle' of sorts.
Weapons tech/vehicle tech etc.. etc.. (those are the only 2 I know off the top of my head)

I know I'm probably missing a whole lot, but it sounds really cool whatever it is you do lol

Wearing Multicam sounds more like US DEA not RCMP.

Not that this means anything for Mounties overseas, but I understand that at least some of the Emergency Response Teams use multicam; perhaps a member serving in A-stan used some of his ERT gear?

Conker November 1st, 2009 18:47

Actually I remeber it was a manhunt by the RCMP, and they came by a field near Toronto or Ottawa, I'm not sure, where there was an airsoft game. Some of these ERT guys had Multicam (others were in black). There was a video posted here of that event, it would just need some reserach on the forums.

So as much as there was ERT guys in Multicam here, why couldn't they also be wearing it overseas? I don't think DEA has exlusivity on it at all.

However, all pics I've seen of RCMP in A-stan had tan flightsuits.

Honestly I have no idea what my actual title is anymore (combat storesman?!), I'm currently sitting under Support Troop at 4AD (the AD standing for Air Defense), and have a desk in the BQMS. So during normal work hours I do the QM thing, which is issueing kit and weapons, and preparing packages for field exercises.
That said, when 4AD does go into the field either locally or out of region my duty is driving the bin truck (the ML above) and delivering equipment to the troops.

The position I'm in now is just a progression of different courses and pure luck ;)

Forever_kaos November 1st, 2009 18:58

Very cool! (and different hehe)

Ideally, I'd love to do just that. Issue the kit or work with it in some manner.
Sorta like a weapons tech plays with the weapons I guess hahaha.

Or there's option #1 (possibly #2?) Weapons tech, once I get around to applying.

Yeoman November 5th, 2009 09:48

qm hua baby
i close within and issue kit in any weather, day or night, or terrain
