Do you have the gen3 kit for the pdw? It's a worthy upgrade. Works great on mine.

Strelok March 13th, 2012 19:58

Gen 3 kit? Not sure what that is! The gun is open bolt. What does the Gen 3 kit do/include?

Fuzzy March 13th, 2012 20:02

Changes out the bolt carrier. Uses a push spring instead of the stock pull spring. Biggest advantage is no more stretched spring issues of the gen 2.

oh wow, nice. Mines definitely Gen 2. Where can I buy these kits?

Check Airsoft Taiwan. I ordered the pdw open bolt kit and it was the gen3.

One thing with mine though is that I cannot load a mag without pulling that bolt back first. The new bolt carrier might be slightly lower than the gen2. The upside is that the spring won't stretch out and no more "twang" with each shot.

Strelok March 15th, 2012 00:31

Hmm, I get no twang, but the bolt return feels really light and sluggish. Might be just me comparing this to my former XM177E2. Either way, waiting for another guy to give word to me, but I got the kit bookmarked on Airsoftaiwan. Thanks!

You need to load 1-2 BB's less.

I get the twang in my ob PDW. Been looking, not terribly hard, for the ratech ob kit but they were discontinued as WE started to redesign the ob system. I'm guessing they copied ratech's upgrade in the 3rd gen and went back to a pushing return spring vs. pulling the bolt back to battery.

Recently bought a WE PDW open bolt (long version) from Garrison. It has the gen 3 bolt pre-installed. Very crisp blowback, but like Fuzzy, you need to lock the bolt back to properly seat the mag in. Not a big deal for me because I always do that (avoids damage to the nozzle when you slam a mag in).

A little dirty, but it does the job. Sorry for the blurry pics.

PDW (personal defense weapon)?
what makes a weapon PDW? folding stock and short barrel?
would be nice to have a gbbr pdw MmmMMm

tunabreath April 24th, 2012 20:05

They're typically submachinegun sized, but firing a round designed to penetrate armour and still provide adequate terminal effects from a pistol caliber sized cartridge.

The KAC PDW is a slightly different take, just a miniaturized piston AR, firing a round optimized for very short barrels and high controllability while having superior projectile energy at range than 5.56 from a similar length barrel.

I think .300BLK and 6.8SPC SBRs might be a more universally recognized system encroaching on the KAC PDW's niche, but with less controllability in mind.

That's one kick ass PDW tuna breath. What do you have all on it. I'm thinking of making a PDW like that.

My AK to 7.62x39 PDW project. Pardon the raw bondo and roughness, will be much more done in a few weeks.
