this is an e-mail from ICE in regards to stock

Hi,
We'll have more pics tomorrow. We've had some really long lead times in the past. Since we moved into our new factory we have all of our pouches and belts in stock in CADPAT AR, CADPAT TW, Universal, and Coyote Brown. Multicam will all be in stock in 2-3 weeks. All the chest rigs and plate carriers in all colors will be in stock in 2-3 weeks. We can make them in any color except Multicam in 2 days. Multicam fabric arrives in a week. BDUs in all colors take 2 weeks right now, Hardshells are first week of Sept.
For products not in stock, we've been taking email orders and building them and then emailing the customer to let them know they're ready. They can pay when we're ready to ship. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.

We did a group order for their bdus and it took several shipments and about 4 months to finally received them all. If I hadn't hinted that my lawers would be involved if he didn't get our order finished, I'm sure we would have wait longer. The total cost of mailing that way was way more than what was charged. At lease he tried to keep us happy and not have us wait till he could have shipped it in one package.

I'm happy to see that he's willing to have a pay when ready policy. I don't think Hobey is a bad guy. He just took on orders that were way more than he can handle in his old place. Having excuses of running out of thread, materials, and even zippers did not inspire much confidence on his production management.

One thing I hate on his hardshell, is the zippers are too small and it always catches on the flap that is suppose to cover the zipper. I love the softshell jacket though. Watch out for the sizes on the BDUs. They then to be on the small side. A medium jacket is like a small from other companies.

I agree Bruce. When I finally got my order, it was well made and made to the specs I provided. It just took a very long time to get to me. This is a classic example of a good manufacturer getting overextended.

...it can happen to anyone who makes gear.

I agree on that, though I would not say 'I hate it'. As Hobey is willing to do custom work, I will omit the pit zips completely and replace all the mini flaps with full size flaps while using a standard YKK zippers.

If he'd only reply to my emails ...  :smack:

Cheers,
