That's pretty much it.

Originally the rule wasn't there and there was a bunch of contractors that was out there wearing Marpat and stuff, I remember reading a lot of Marines commenting on that.

Because of how the private sector operated (entirely different rules) the State Department always wanted to create a clear distinction between the military and the contractors (in the eyes of the locals).

I don't think high/low profile has much to do with it; some hadjis see a bunch of white boys with body armor and M4s rolling around in a pristine SUV, I don't think anyone's gonna confuse 'em for locals.

Read the "The Circuit" by Bob Shepherd. It pretty much explain it all, from the perspective of a british contractor.
Very good read by the way. A lot of good first hand accounts of things that happened in Afghanistan and Iraq, among other places.

Thank you all very much for the very helpful information. I was gonna use a pair of Woodland camo pants, but seeing as PMCs rarely wear that, guess its more casual civi street gear, which I have the perfect outfit for.
Thank you all again :D

5.11 tdu pants with a T-shirt and you got your self a P.M.C. BDU

juicy July 4th, 2010 23:54

Yes. Jeans or khaki pants seem to be the most widely used from the picture Googling I've done.

Only thing is... jeans and khaki stand out like a mofo at the field I play at (doesn't stop me from running around in that outfit anyway though).

I got a beard going on that would make chuck Norris cry

PaddMadd July 5th, 2010 01:12

Chuck Norris doesn't cry, he sweats from his eyes.

And seeing as Chuck Norris doesn't sweat either, it's actually the blood of his enemies that has soaked into his body and gets filtered into liquid excellence.

GMoney July 5th, 2010 03:12

On a side note......when chuck Norris donates blood, he asks for agun and a bucket

FOX_111 July 5th, 2010 09:42

Even then, IF he bleed, he has to shoot again, as he coagulate like a mofo!
