Things I've watched recently and recommend:

Angel Beats: Spectacular anime. Good mix of comedy and seriousness, and the ending is great, if a serious tear jerker.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha: Spectacular anime, very entertaining. Deconstructs alot of the magical girl tropes as well as several other anime genres. Full of shout outs to other anime. If you're a long time anime viewer I highly recommend this.

Simoun: This one is an excellent anime. Though you have to get past the fighter aircraft powered by schoolgirl lesbianism to enjoy it, which not everyone can.

Spice and Wolf: This was a spectacular watch, the characterization of the two main characters and the byplay between them is beautifully done.

Dennou Coil: A very nice anime, very entertaining. As TvTropes puts it "Ghost In The Shell meets Hayao Miyazaki".

Code Geass: Mecha battles and a beautifully characterized Magnificent Bastard. A spectacular watch.

Ill +1 angel beats (new OVA just came out last week)
and Code Geass. (also had an OVA come out recently) I just cant get over how fucking amazing it is. fuck. I have watched the whole series twice now. Every time I watch it I cant help but compare every step of the plot to Death Note.

I liked Death Note up until you know who's death (don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it). After that, it was meh. I didn't even finish it.

I recently got a new 2TB HD WD Green Rawr

I keep all my anime. I have about 2 tb on hd and about another 5 or so on cd/dvd.

Eureka Seven and Get Backers were enjoyable but not spectacular. I watched Fushigi Yuugi over a decade ago so my memory of it is pretty faded, but what I do remember of it was ok, but alittle heavy on the reverse harem trope. Highschool of the Dead was good but way too heavy on the fanservice. Kenshin's ova and the kyoto arc in the tv series were good, the rest was fluff and filler. Vandread was quite good, it's been awhile but I have fond memories. I'm surprised you found Gunslinger Girl boring. I found it very good, especially season one. Season two was alot weaker though.

Does anyone know when Code Geass R3 comes out?

I was not even looking for an R3. It finished up quite well.

I have more anime then is worth counting, 7+ 2TB drives are full of media, id say at least 1/1 of it is anime....

I recommend:

Area 88: Really good plot line and cool (if not realistic) dogfights, 2004 version has CG animated dogfights

Full Metal Panic: I recommend both seasons and the side story, really good mecha combat, some decent gun fights, side story is hillarious.

Gundam Seed Unicorn: Really good side story, happens in between GS and GSD, explains some stuff about Phantom Pain.

Manga I recommend:

He is My Master: Pretty funny manga.

Gundam Seed (Destiny) side stories: Pretty good, explains a lot and adds much more depth to the storyline

Black Cat: Really good story line, good gun fights and really funny.
